I had a post about the really nice treeless saddle I found at a pawn shop dirt cheap.... I brought it home last week and between moving and the rain I couldnt ride! I finally rode in it Tuesday and yesterday! Tuesday I didnt really care for how the stirrup "fenders" are attachched to the saddle because it ristricts your legs from going forward much. Yesterday I rode longer and even played around in the pond at our new place. I focused on riding correctly and I LOVE it! I love being able to feel my horse!

ETA: My horse is 14.3 at the hip and 14h at the wither, it looks like the back of the saddle is sticking up but I promise all the padding underneath is touching her. I will get a back pic today :)

Congratulations on your found treasure. A treeless is an adjustment and it will mold to your horse after about 10 rides.

Thank you everyone! If it wasnt for all the knowledge on here I would have just passed on it for fear it was a cheapo! So far the only thing I dont love about it is the restriction of your feet/legs not being able to push too far forward. Kind of worried about going down steep hills. Lol. My mare LOVES it! Usually when she has time off she bucks when you ask for a lope. Last time I rode her in my treed saddle (fits her when shes fat so now it doesnt fit) she was HORRIBLE! Everytime I would squeeze her forward she would go full bronc mode, refused to stop correctly, and just all around fought me every step of the way. Shes had about 2 weeks off do to weather and moving, rode her in this saddle and she was very willing and never bucked or had any attitude!

I rode my mare for an hour the other day, did a lot of trotting, when I removed the saddle she had an EVEN sweat pattern!!!! I was so excited that even with my cheaper pad the saddle FITS and has no pressure points! I'm completely in love with it, most comofotable saddle ever!

The thing I really love about the treeless saddles is the fact that  you have so much feel of your horse.  Tried riding in my treed
saddle after riding in the treeless for so long, and I just could not get with the treed saddle because with the thick fenders you just do not have the same feel, you really get spoiled to having so much feel.    A treedless saddles is the only thing I ever ride in now and have been for 20 years.

It was weird at first but I absolutely love being able to feel my horse! Its a learning curve as well, the riging is lower so I need a shorter cinch, I also know I need to invest in a better pad. The one in the pics is a cheapy but VERY nice pad I bought at the Omak Stampede in 2009. I have a sensorfkex but its way too thick and causes it to slip.

It does feel strange at first, and you also have to learn to keep your legs still as they do swing more.  I just recentlly got a Tammy Fisher and even though her finders are a little thicker from my other treeless, still have a better feel  than with a reqular saddle.  I'm sure you will enjoy.  I usually just use  two saddle blankets and you will use a shorter girth.

My legs actually swing less in my treeless :)

I loved the BM's that I had, Love the feel but I hated how my stirrups leathers just stayed in one spot, I could not place my feet where I wanted them, I ride with my legs more forward and just could not do it, I even had my saddles with the Allison Ray rigging and just could not move my legs. Thats the only reason I sold my BM's.
