| I think a lot of it is personal preference. I love my Pozzi and feel super secure but still able to get up and ride forward which is my style. |

| I would say the best to hold someone in is a treeless saddle, since you say you are a plus sized rider you would have to decide whether or not it will work for you.
The Martha Josey saddles I have noticed help people who don't have the core strength to maintain upper body position. |

Theres not enought support if you need to pull yourself up in a treeless. Just wanted to add here I agree on the Martha Joseys they are a nice saddle for just about anybody

Location: NC | I ride in a newer Pro Rider.
Tried a Lisa Lockhart. Tried a Circle Y NBHA edition. Still went back to Pro Rider. Just fits me I guess. I love my newer one with a 16 seat with a 5 inch cantle. Works for me & fits the horse as good as anything. |

| Caldwell, they sit you deep, you can have as much rise put in the seat as you want. I use to ride in a Pozzi, now I feel like they throw me forward. |

I don't advise a Josey. I don't think they offer the security you're looking for |

| A couple folks have brought up the BM Sports Saddle - the issue here as was stated before is the BM is a treeless and treeless saddles are generally not recommended for riders over 150lbs since there is no tree to distribute the weight of the rider across the horses back all the weight is carried in a relatively small area.
I've got a friend who just replaced her BM with a Deb Sibley because after a season of hard running her horse was sored up due to the saddle putting all her weight on one spot. I doubt she tips the scale at 130lbs.
You're honestly going to have to do your own independent research and see what you like. I found my Triple Creek with a 5" cantle to be very secure, almost too secure for my style, but as some folks have stated they find lower cantles to be more secure to them. |

| I've noticed through observation that a lot of people are simply riding saddles that are too small for them. Seats too small tend to throw the trunk forward which makes your legs go back. FIT is the key. |

Very true. And just because you can ride in a certain size seat in one brand of saddle doesn't mean that size will fit you in another brand. For a good saddle to hold you in I really like the Pozzi. I hear good things about the Caldwells but have never tried one. |

| I rode a Pro Rider for years. Liked how it fit me (turns out it didn't fit my horse) so I bought a new one. They changed trees and I don't like how I sit in it, I feel like I am on it and not in it. Have also tried a Cactus - same thing - felt like I was riding on it, and a Crates. Got a used Double J and I LOVE it. Fits my horse great and I really like how I feel in it. Good luck with your search. Try all of your friends' saddles when you can. |
