That could be my farrier. Grumpy fart with a big belly. He usually listens to me then does his own thing. At least this one hasn't cussed me out.

Someone I barely knew walked up to my horse (who was calm and munching at the trailer) greeted my horse and wanted to try the duct tape on the nose to see if it worked...before I could say anything she proceeded to duct tape my horse who went from calm and happy to very upset and set back on the trailer (she had never previously done) I was annoyed and she never touched my horse again. Not saying it doesn't work but I now have a bad taste in my mouth. Want to see others experiences.

I would never put duct tape on my horse. I think it's a stupid trick.

I did it for ****s and giggles. All the videos I seen never really showed the horse before, just claimed it was misbehaving.
My horse doesn't clip, will run to the back forty at the sight of clippers, don't even have to be on, so I figured it'd be a good test.
He threw a bigger fit over the tape then the clippers head flinging, rubbing his nose on the ground.
Needless to say, he still didn't get clipped.

Edited to add: The horse in video posted is far from misbehaving IMO. He's half asleep and how much of that is the horse actually moving or the farrier making it look like he is. Anytime I see the horse actually do anything he has his leg so far out to the side I'd be trying to take it from him too!

Lol I'm pretty sure the whole thing was a joke. The "farrier" was moving the horse around, and the "owner" was definitely "acting". Granted I have seen people act like that in real life.........duct taping the owners mouth is much preferred

I wonder if the mule played a factor in calming the mare down. At 2:35 there's a mule standing there that doesn't appear to be there in the beginning. Not saying the duct tape thing doesn't work but I have a horse who's super jumpy like that until another horse gets by him and then he's totally fine.

I watched a friend shoe a horse that was fussy. He tried this and did go around all four feet with the horse standing. We were both a little surprised. So, I guess it may help on some.

I watched the video too, and wonder how he got all four feet trimed and really to shoe if this horse was supposed to be so hard to work with? All feet were ready to be shoed befor he did the tape, hummmm I wonder.
I was quoiting the video that Snoopy put up..

i could see if maybe the horse needed a little distraction. I had a freind that would stick a caramel to her horses tooth. he was busy getting it off and enjoying it so the shoer or vet didn't have any problems with him LOL

okay, I was a sucker and tried it with my mare. Pulled back, took off pawing at her face, I didn't think I would ever get that duct tape off her nose.

I tried it with my horse that has ants in his pants while standing tied and not getting attention (aka, I'm cleaning his stall or something similar.)

I proceeded to back up, snort a lot and make it flap around. he was entranced by it for about 30 seconds and then he started rubbing his nose on every surface he could find and got it off. It certainly didn't exactly stop the tap dancing but he was "busy" for like 2 minutes... so there's that.

I didn't even bother trying it on my spooky guy because I didn't feel like running that day.

I have a horse that is scared of a needle.  I thought maybe this would distract him enough to be vaccinated.  He almost freaked out - started doing his head up and down trying to shake it off - eyes got big (bigger than normal, lol) - got all stiff-legged and snorty - backing up...  Didn't think I'd ever get that piece off his nose!   Won't do that again!

The only reason it mght work on some is its a distraction of the original reason. they think about the tape and not the issue..
