ETA well that worked out...lol
Question: How long would you give one a shot before saying it doesn't work for my horse and moving on to the next? I have looked at several the past week or so and a few of them seem so convincing. How long should it take to see/ feel the effects of one? I know not all supps work for every horse so I dont want to feed one forever waiting on it to make a difference when I could have been moving on to find one that works better.
Also, the horse I am looking into this for is the OTT mare that I am just riding right now. Will not be doing anthing but riding in the pasture and working on her handle and chilling out. I don't expect this to be a long term thing, I just want something to help put her mind at ease. I am also looking into putting her on a long term gastric/hindgut support. I really really like this mare but I feel like due to her past she gets stuck in her own head sometimes. I feel like once she realizes there is more to life than a track and running hard in pain (sucking air and prob ulcers) she will chill on her own, I'm just trying to make life easier on her.

The name is misleading, as it's not necessarily "calming" but allows a horse to manage the effects of stress on the body, therefore they are able to focus. Some horses also need the Cur-OST Stomach as well, as stress affects the body so negatively, the two work fantastic together. There are many here who have used this combination when other ulcer medications and calming supplements have failed. I have had extremely great luck with the adapt and calm and it is CHEAP... 24 dollars for like a 2-3 month supply and will NOT make them groggy. |

Location: Oklahoma | With the Equine Matrix ECP, I put my stallion on it when we moved to our house. He was anxious and pacing the fence 24/7. I know the founder of the company and called him to talk to him and see what his thoughts were. I did 7 days of the loading dose and noticed a complete turnaround in that time frame. I had some of the best training rides on my stud while on the ECP. It allowed him to focus on me, not the mares even though it was the end of breeding season. He wasn't a dead head, but he listened and was focused on me. I will be putting my gelding on this when we start showing just to give him the peace of mind that things are not scary. I fed a total of 45 days, then pulled my stallion off it due to it being winter. |

Location: Missouri | We use In the Zone. Some horses we can tell very obvious that it worked within 45 minutes then on other horses it was like well I think it may have but decided it didn't and then after making a few runs decided it really did work! But we like ITZ because it helps calms them, it keeps them focused and it coats the stomach if you do have those ulcer issues. It is all natural.

| Animal Element In The Zone is a great product. I've had lots of success with it. Its a tube and you get 4 doses for like $20 but its pretty cheap. Animal Element have lots of great products. |

| The only two that worked for my horses are Cur Ost Stomach and Adapt and I have had good success with THE cookies, too. I will try it once or maybe twice and then move on. I don't need it daily since I treated my horses for ulcers with the Stomach and Adapt. Now I only need it for high stress situations. |

Location: SW North Dakota | This may be an "outside the box" application, but here's a crazy story.
I have a gelding who, by nature, is a worrier. We've used him on the ranch forever (he was born here) and he's perfect in his element, chasing cows in the badlands. I patterned him on the barrels and started hauling him to the jackpots- where his worried nature got the best of him. When I took his "buddy" away, he'd cry and whinney and pace at the trailer. To the point of being rather embarrassing. I kept him up near the barn during this time and he'd worry and pace the fence. I treated him for 28 days with omeprazole. No change. Over the course of 3 years, I tried Flufenazine (sp?), Reserpine, Ace, BAT 10 (that worked ok, but was hard to time), THE calming cookies, etc. His bloodwork was normal, teeth were good, saddle fit good, yada, yada, yada.
At this time, I bought a horse from Bryel Mulligan. Her brother, Matt, met me at a rodeo with him and as we talked, I brought up this worried wreck of a horse I had. He poured some liquid into a water bottle and handed it to me. It was Equi-Sure, and he thought it was worth a try. I didn't really know how to dose it at that time, so I gave him 10cc's as I loaded him on the trailer. He was a different horse. 90% quieter, his "ranch horse relaxed," and stayed focused. I was still skeptical, but got the same results each time. That fall, I bought a half gallon and have been using it since... that was 2012. Now I keep the whole string on Equi-Sure. My husband calls it "Monte Medicine," cuz it helped that horse so much. For that particular horse, there is nothing that came close to working as well to relax the worries! |
