My daughter's horse is 22 and we have had him on Adequan for the past couple years. The vet recommended we put him on a joint supplement in addition to the Adequan. What would you suggest? Cosequin, Platinum Plus CJ?

I'm a firm believer in PP CJ.  I give it to my old guys and my 6 yr old as preventatives.  They look and feel awesome.

Senior Flex From United Vet Equine! My old guy, now 29, has been on it for over 12 years. I also give it to our stallion. Previcox is great too.

I really like the joint supplement by Choice of Champions.  I see an overall difference in coat, behavior and movement.
I also had great results with Cosequin HSA with my daughters older horse.  Nothing helped him (and I tried EVERYTHING) but this stuff.  It made the world of difference for him

I like Actiflex. We have given it to dogs too, and seen noticeable improvement.

Try Cetyl M! Cetyl M is great for senior horses that are needing that extra little bit safely and effectively. Unlike most other joint supplements, cetyl myristoleate is our main ingredient, and is HIGHLY effective at making all stages and competitive levels of horses more comfortable. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

We give my daughter's 21 year old calf horse the senior flex from SmartPak. It has some natural anti-inflamitory stuff along with glucosamine, msm, chondrotin. It seems to be great. He has been on it for 3 years now. I recomended it to a friend with a 26 year old team roping horse they could barely get to trot and he is using him at ropings again!

This. I spent god only knows how much on joint supplements for my old lady (28 this year) and MSM is a significant help to her, whereas most others I tried did nothing. I feed straight MSM, not a supplement with MSM in it mixed with something else. It's the cheapest, and only thing that worked.

Lubrisyn and/or Previcox.  Both have made a difference in my older guys.

I give glucosamine IV. I also started using Polyglycan and I've seen huge improvement.

I can also recommend SmartPak's senior products. They are good.

If the horse has mild arthritis then THE JointPLUS, if he has severe, rheumatoid, or bursitis then THE FlamOXIDE. I used to use Platinum CJ and Cosequin ASU. As soon as I switched to THE I felt the difference in 3 days. Even my trainer noticed my horse was doing better and ask me what I was doing. Told him all I did was change the supplements. He took his whole barn off Cosequin ASU and put them on THE JointPLUS. Never been happier. And less expensive.

I am a fan of nutramax products- Cosequin being the main one.

I got to try out Cosequin ASU plus with HA with a deal we got through vet school. I started my mare on it who just had stifle surgery to remove a chip. She's doing great. Mind you there's no way to know how much of it is based on the cosequin or just a good surgery but it makes me feel good knowing that she's recovered with no complications. They have a lot of published research on their products and pain management/joint health. I am going to keep her on it and get my sister's 19YO mare on it who has arthritis.

I used to not put much into joint supplements and it's definitely buyer beware- with nutraceuticals there's no governing body or law that makes sure they put the amount of active ingredient in their product. something to keep in mind. This is why I typically am more of a fan of IV or IM drugs versus supplements. But so far, I am really liking the cosequin ASU with HA. you can also get it with MSM added.
