| I plan on using my LQ this winter a good bit, has anyone ever left the heat on in the trailer so you don't have to winterize? I have never not winterized before, also what about outside water spigot? |

Where do you live?
Pennsylvania, I've heard of others around here going the heating route, but I'm nervous to.
I did empty the grey and black tanks and dump antifreeze in them....because that is easy to just empty tanks again and dump more antifreeze after use, it's all the other lines and things I was trying to avoid doing |

Location: CTX | Would love to know too. This is our first year with the LQ, so am very new to it. We did put a space heater in the trailer the last couple of nights because of the nice Alaskan weather we are having here in Central Texas..... And I will be pulling throughout most of the winter. I think we have a break of about a month beginning in mid December but other than that we will be hauling at least once a week.
So, very curious to hear what you come up with... |

Location: Oklahoma | I tried going the heating route one winter because I was using mine, but the electricity went off in the ice storm and everything froze, and cost me a lot of $$$ to repair everything, so now, I just go ahead and winterize and leave the antifreeze in there when I use it, and just drain the tanks when I get home and add more antifreeze. :/ And I live in OK. It doesn't get nearly as cold here as it does in your country.

Location: Riding Crackhead. | I wouldn't take the risk. Winterize it. If you crack the water pump, that alone will cost you a slug of money. Drain the hot water tank, bypass it and suck the antifreeze through the pump and out each faucet, toilet and shower along with the outside spigot. I live in the frozen tundra so no way in hell could I get away with trying to heat it to keep it thawed enough. |

| Not where you live and not where I live here in Ks either. We "blow"ours out with compressed air and put RV antifreeze in the P-traps - then you don't have to drain ALL that smelly antifreeze out in the spring. |

| I always blow it out. i turn the fawcet at the front of the trailer get 90% of water out. The i turn air compressor on and turn on one fawcet at a time until no water comes out and the first time i did it i then left all fawcets open and turned air compressor back on and redraned all fawcets. Then i just dumped the little in my tanks. Never had a problem. But i live in virginia not canada. But if all water is,gone it shold not matter where u live. I also heard that you can put mouthwash in the p traps. |

Location: Western Pa. | I live in Western Pa and always winterize. Mine is already done. We were thinking of going to a show this weekend then with this weather decided not to,so winterize I did. I have a winterizing kit on my pump takes very little time to put the RV antifreeze thru the system. I buy the antifreeze at Walmart 2 gallons at 5 dollars each is a cheap way to prevent problems.Simple to winterize if we change our minds. Saves a lot of worry and money if it gets cold. We are to have 10 at night next week. |

Location: The South | Perfect time for this thread, me and my hubs are trying to decide what to do with ours. We're new to the LQ, before this we just had a sink and a cowboy shower. I just can't decide on what to do. We drained all the water from the fresh tank last night, but we didn't have a socket big enough to take the plug out of the water heater to drain it. So I turned the generator on when I fed and let the furnace run for awhile. I'm going to get a socket in the am and try to figure this out while hubs is in the deer woods. We're totally unprepared for this cold snap! I went to the rv place today and got antifreeze, it says "fresh water antifreeze" so maybe it's not so hard to rinse out in the spring? I dunno, there is a big learning curve with the LQ aspect I think. I'm just so scared to mess something up now that we finally have one! |

Yes, we only use RV antifreeze. It isn't hard to rinse out and it doesn't smell THAT bad, but when we blow out the lines, there isn't nearly as much that you have to drain out. I used the antifreeze method for years and got along fine. |

Don't pour the RV Antifreeze into the fresh water tank, It will take all summer to get that rinsed out. If your system isn't already fixed up with a shut off from the fresh water to the pump, unhook where the fresh goes to the pump. Get a extra hose and hook to the pump in that place then insert other end into the RV antifreeze and pump that thru the system. The only thing that needs rinsed out that way is the lines. If you have any questions it is best to go to the RV shop and let them help you the first time. You also want to shut of the water going to your hot water tank, you just drain the tank but don't put the antifreeze in it. |
