Location: Driving, Grooming, or Saddling for a Kid! | Whats the best thing for bad thrush due to contracted heels? Im talking about crippling, can barely walk type thrush. Hes got a line between his heel bulbs that you can stick a hoof pick all the way in. |

Location: Wherever They Send Me | I have used a bleach/water mixture and ACV/water mixture; I dug out the infected area with a nail to get air inside and sprayed the crap out of it daily. I also heard good things about the kind you soak their foot in, I cant remember the name, but one bottle is about $25 and will provide two treatments. |

I think you are thinking of Oxine and you mix it with water. If you want to make it really powerful you can mix it with citric acid but it's not necessary.
I always used clean trax. I wash the frog and hoof with dish soap, then soak in clean trax, and then dry the frog area and put Desitin diaper rash cream all over and in the cracks.
Do every day until it's gone.
I was told that using bleach or iodine, is that it can eventually hurt the good part of the frog and slow the healing progress. Not sure if that is true. |

Location: Southeastern Idaho | My mare with a club foot has issues with contracted heels and gets thrush from time to time. No Thrush has been the product that has worked the best for me. Easy to use, not messy at all and works. Good luck! |

Location: Opelousas, LA | I have never used CleanTrax but White Lightning and white vinegar has worked well for me and its much cheaper. If the thrush is that bad, I would use Dawn and scrub the crack with a toothbrush then rinse well before you soak the foot. After the foot is done soaking squirt a mixture of athletes foot cream and Neosporin with the pain reliever in to the crack with a syringe then put a boot on if you have them.
Your horse should feel much better in about a week if you do this every day, after that you can back off the soaks to two or three times a week.
Just saw the post about the pads, I bet those will have to come off for a while to get him healed up.

Equi-pak CS, but if the infection is severe you will need to clean it out and get it treated at least once before, Equipak only treats mild cases. I would have your shoer come out remove them and then you can treat for a couple days and then he can come back and put the pads and equi-pak on. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | I just dealt with this with my gelding. The vet prepped his foot with with a mix of copper sulfate and vinegar, then tea tree oil letting that dry and then thrush off which he puts on before the pads and basically threatened with my life if I let him step in water, LOL!!! They also put the copper pour in pads under the shock absorbing pads. |

| Iv used Koppertox for years. My dad was a horse shoer and he put it on every horse he seen that had thrush, even the cases as bad as you describe and it cleared it up in no time. Thrush is caused usually by the horse standing in mud, dirty stall ect Koppertox is waterproof unlike bleach and many other products. Just make sure you have on gloves or you will be green! |

Location: 31 lengths farms | the Tomorrow is a little stronger since it is a dry cow medicine, the Today is made for a lactating cow so they it needs to get out of the system faster for milk withdrawal times.

From the people I know that have used both, they prefer Tomorrow, but said both will get the job done. |
