Does anyone have any good opinions on horse insurance? I have tried to contact LCI to no avail and have never been contacted back. I have called, sent two emails, and also have sent in the online quote and have never heard a word back. I have heard good things about Markel. Thanks ahead of time!

Also, what do you guys recommend getting coverage wise? I am definitely wanting Emergency colic surgery coverage, but wasn't sure if anyone has done anything like major medical?

ETA: I did a search on here and saw some other companies. I just sent in a quote request through Albracht. Anyone currently using them?

There was a thread about this just the other day.
I use Albracht; cheaper than Markel and friendlier.
I have mortality and major medical. No complaints, but no claims either.

Thanks guys! I was looking at the thread about this that was posted recently and that's how I found Albracht. I don't want to spend a fortune, but I also would like some protection. I'm in my last year of vet school, which has allowed me to see a lot of things that can happen and how fast they add up.

I have what has been a pretty dang nice policy on my show horse. I'll get you the details. It is full of Endorsements that I never expected including one for Wobblers which he has. LCI was full of EXCLUSIONS. So if my horse had this or this or this they wouldn't cover it. No thank you!!! It's not like we know what our horses are going to do to get injured or sick!!!

Isn't it crazy? You have to practically BEG these companies to take your money! I have the SAME thing with my home owners. My dad had the SAME policy for FIFTY years, he died, I took over the policy and NOW they want to know the roof age, age of the electrical & plumbing work and actually went SO FAR as to ask me to have the neighbors take pictures of the house for them (I am 130 miles away). Customer service with any kind of insurance company is a JOKE!

(Sorry, off my soapbox)....

On the horses, I had insurance through Justin - they were okay I guess, I never had a claim and I had to drop once the horses were 15 as it was astronomical. In several years, I would have paid in premiums what the horses were worth!

I am looking for insurance as well. I email ALOT of people for quotes, and the best quote I got, with the coverage I am looking for is with Hartford and the agent is out of NC. If you want his info, message me.
I actually have two other friends looking to insure their horses. I asked the agent it there was a "break" if I got a certain amount of people but it was only if we were at the same barn OR we had 10 horses to insure.

Ingram Insurance Agency out of Whiteboro Texas! Jenifer Ingram is wonderful. I have not had to make a claim yet! But one of my good friends had to on his good barrel horse for colic surgery. He could not believe it, no problems with making the claim and they paid right away. He has had problems with other insurance companies in the past but not this one. So, I went with them for my horses and been with them for 3 yrs. now. So, it can't hurt to give them a call also!

I used Jarvis and I was very happy with them. I had mortality and 7500 major medical. I had quite a few claims on the major medical and they paid every time without any debate or issues.

I am an agent here in the NW but we are licensed throughout most the US. I can get you a quote very quickly if still interested. As an independent agency I have a couple options I can choose from, The Hartford being one!

Thanks!
