| A friend’s horse has a pretty good sized sarcoid on the inside of his ear... has anyone dealt with a similar issue? How did you (&your vet) treat it?

| My mare had one on her neck, we used Xxterra to treat it. It took two cycles of applying it, but it went away no problem. Just a heads up it looks worse before it looks better during treatment, and my mare got super sensitive around that area by about the 5th day and didn't really want me touching her there. Once healed the sensitivity went away though. |

| I used Crest toothpaste, worked like a charm. Applied it religiously every single day for 4 months, hasn't come back in a year. |

| My gelding had one on his belly under the back cinch. I did the Crest Toothpasete and it worked great, been about 3 years now. I did it in the winter time and didn't even apply fresh everyday. I would put on a coating then recoat after that coat was gone. After about a month or so I took a curry comb to it since with the long winter hair it had gotten kinda messy and to my surprise it was completely gone and hasn't returned. |

Same here, it has to be the paste, not the gel. My vet wanted me to wait til winter to use the Xterra because of the flies so I thought I would try the Crest and it worked, no pain and no sores. |

Location: Minnesota | My opinion is treat it from the inside out. It's an immune deficiency. I used SL Immune and bld klnz. Within 30 days both fell off and haven't come back. |

Location: NW MT | I would not use the Xterra in the ear - it can get pretty sore & nasty & you can end up with a very ear shy horse. My one mare had one get pretty big the winter before last & we tried Crest, Act II, Noxema, every "home remedy" out there & nothing touched it. So my vet sedated her, & removed it. He did have me put a different cream on it once/week for 4 weeks I think it was & it's gone & stayed gone. (she did get ear sensitive with this stuff too but once it was healed, she's been fine). |

| I used the plain old Crest toothpaste, as nothing else my vet and I tried worked. He said he knew it sounded crazy, but we were running out of options. It was hard to find plain old regular Crest toothpaste. |

| Mine is Crest Cavity Protection and says Regular Paste in small letters below. There is some on Ebay. I bought 2 tubes, but I don't remember where I finally found mine. I kept one in case I need it again. |

Location: Ellensburg, Washington | As long as it isn't bothering the horse, can you just leave alone? My gelding has a small one at the top of his ear and I was advised to just leave it alone unless it was rubbing or growing? |
