| There is a jackpot tomorrow evening that I would like to go to after work. The only issue is I won't have time to run all the way home to get my horse and make it to the jackpot in time. The thought of bringing my mare with me to work crossed my mind. It's suppose to be in the 80s tho and I am assuming she would get too hot. It's a trailer with open sides, not windows. Obviously she would have plenty of hay and water. The issue is I would likely be working a 9 hour day and I feel that's way too long and she'll get too warm. Obviously a jackpot is not more important than her being safe and comfortable, just looking for opinions. I feel like I'm completely crazy for even thinking about doing it lol. |

| I did load my 2 horses in my trailer in the winter and let them sit for 1-2 hours while I was at a quick meeting before work. It wasn't 9 hours or anything though. There's no way you could be an add on at the jackpot so you could have more time? If its 1 horse, and its a stock, and it's open and she can move around, and you check on her and make sure she's not too hot, maaaaybe. Is she the type that won't use the bathroom in a trailer? I have a mare, that will poop, but won't pee in the trailer, so I'd be concerned that she would hold her bladder, and cause herself some issues.
Of course it's up to you, but I don't know that I'd chance 9 hours Is there a friend or anyone that's closer you could haul to and pick her up from there after work? |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | For your horse to be sitting in a trailer for 9 hours and then to go to a barrel race for ever how long, thats not fair to her, like another poster said see if theres any pens that you could put her in at the arena that the barrel race will be at and see about leaving her there with hay and water, but if it was me I would not do either unless you had a friend that would haul her for you. |

That was my first thought too.
I've often thought about doing this though. I work for a farm and my boss is always telling me I should bring my horse over and ride. I wouldn't leave her in the trailer, I'd park in the shade and leave her tied, but the thought has definitely crossed my mind! |

| I have taken my horses to school because I did not have enough time to go home get the horse and make it go the vet. I either open up the trailer or tie them outside. My trailer usually stays pretty cool if the doors are open. On July 3 several years ago, on the way home from the vet, I had a tire emergency. I had to leave my horses in the trailer way down the block from the tire store in a BAD part of Shreveport LA. I parked so that the horse's heads were in the shΓ de, opened the back doors so the breeze could blow through and they were fine. Granted they were not there all day but they were there a couple of hours. They were not even sweating. |

Location: North Dakota | EDITED because I just realized who posted the question.
How far out of town is your place? (you can PM me if you want) Is anybody near you?
I'm kinda in your neck of the woods but I think you may be farther out of town than me.
If it was going to be cooler today I would consider it, but I think it's gonna get hot. Too hot for her to just sit in the trailer without any air flow going through it.
You could tie her to the outside of the trailer but I guess I don't know what the city laws say on that (or if your bosses would agree with that!). And it would be a good idea to walk her on your lunch break just so she doesn't get so stiff from standing there.
I guess myself personally, I wouldn't do it. There will be more races.

| Just wanted to let everyone know that my internet actually went out before I read any responses but I was NOT dumb enough to bring her with me to work, and skipped this one. That little mare is like my child and I guess I was more curious about length of time anyone's let one hang out in the trailer more than anything. |
