I think with the few out there that are doing well, he could be a tremendous sire. But his stud fee is too steep to get many barrel racing breeders on board. He makes DTF's stud fee look like backyard trash. His fee is $15,000
It is the same for FDD and MJP. The few that I have seen compete were winners, but your average barrel racer can not pay that for a barrel prospect-especially a gelding at that. Those that aren't winning the big stakes here in the US will probably go to Mexico and match race. |

Location: Purcell Ok | I bred to Lota PYC this year and can't wait to see my baby!! I love Lota! He is a lot like PYC Paint your Wagon, they are both easy to be around and handle, not to mention pretty easy on the eyes.
Most of the Wagon horses I have been around are easy to get along with and pretty easy going. We get a few that are a little quirky but you have to remember they all have mothers.

| We tried to breed a mare to a son, Ain't Your Wagon-bred by Bob Moore Farms, but she didn't take this year and it got too late to keep trying. We'll try again next year!

| In your opinion would it be too much run for barrels if PYC PAINT YOUR WAGON was crossed on a running bred mare? Even if the prospect in question was sent to a reining trainer for a handle before patterning? |

It certainly worked out for Promise Me a Wagon.
Of course Pie Sky Promises could be crossed with a zebra and still produce, but still... Lol!

| His stud fee is steep to say the least. Ivory James is his full brother and his get have done well in barrel pen. I've seen them both and while they both have easy dispositions and are beautiful, Ivory has a better conformation, especially for barrels. I have a 4.yr old by him crossed on a Runaway Winner daughter and he is AWESOME. So easy to train and great disposition. His full sister was the same way. |

Location: Spur Texas | We have an own son of PYC and we rope on him and have been crossing him with our cowbred mares. Our oldest colts are 2 year olds this year. So far we have had great luck and all the foals have been good minded and easy going. |

I agree with this. With the amount of winners IJ has sired, and his lower stud fee and in my opinion is much better looking-he would be my go to. I have a daughter and she has the best disposition of any mare we have ever owned. Nothing rattles her, she was sweet to the other babies as a 2yr old and now that she is a mother, she is a doing a fantastic job. And to see her move out, she is so fluid but has that quick snap too. I would have a pasture full of them. Wouldn't kick a PYC out of the barn, but if I had to choose between 2 equal individuals I think I would go for the IJ over the PYC because of the one I own. |

Haha! Know the mare well and yes she could. Very nice mare that now resides in Brazil. |

| Yes the IJ minds are phenomenal. Mine is the same as you described. His full sister was super easy too. |

Location: Montana | I'm loving this thread! We bought a part interest in an IJ son because we have been hearing great things about the minds on the PYCs and IJ's. SO excited about him . . . he's everything we could have asked for and more.
They are built to turn, clearly have a ton of run, and if they are as quiet, kind and careful as this colt, they will be the barrel horse sires of the future. I've been expecting a CC son to become the next hot thing. I'm thinking Ivory James is going to be it. |

Location: You never know where I will show up...... | I have started one PYC and two Ivory James on the barrels and all three have been super easy. Two of them came off the track, all 3 mares, can't say enough good things about them. I liked them well enough that I bred one of my Dash Ta Fame daughters and one of my Tres Seis daughters to Ivory James this year. |
