| Any recommendations of reasonable priced places to stay near Grand Canyon and Zion National Park? Also, any must see places you recommend? Thank you! |

| I'm a Canadian and I've only been once so I don't have a wealth of knowledge but we did have a fabulous tour of the Grand Canyon. We stayed in I think Flagstaff and the hotel had a brochure for a van to pick us up in the morning for a full days tour. Usually we are the do it ourselves kind but so glad we opted for tour. It was a long day cause it's a ways from the canyon but the driver was a university student full of interesting knowledge of the area. We were driven into at least 6-8 spots and got tour bus parking spots and if you think of the potential for a few scraps with hubby over directions this in itself was a huge bonus????. Plus the lunch was so good the other tourists kept circling and asking where we got the food. I give the experience a 10! |

Location: Bandera, TX | About 10 years ago, we stayed at the Desert Pearl Inn by Zion. It was nice. We loved that trip to Zion and Brice... Grand Canyon was too touristy for me. There are so many great places in Utah. Heard great things about Antelope Canyon. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | We went to the Grand Canyon a few years ago and stayed in the park and the room was an overpriced dump. There are hotels just outside the park and that is where I would stay if we go again if you are going to the South Rim.
I don't know about any hotels on the North Rim as we stayed at Lake Powell and then drove to the North Rim.

Location: Montana | We stayed in Page, AZ, both times we were through the Grand Canyon. Its a nice town and has some nice motels and good places to eat. Haven't been through Zion yet, but Bryce Canyon is pretty awesome. I'd like to go sometime and do the horseback ride through there. |

| We didn't stay at Zion or Grand Canyon, but did stay at Bryce, which is really close enough to drive back and forth to Zion, Escalante, Kodachrome Basin, etc.
We stayed at the Bryce Canyon Pines lodge, it had a full kitchen and we stopped in Hurricane and bought our own food. Home cooked meals were fun...there isn't a lot around there and they charge a bit for stuff. The little town near Zion is called Springdale and it's beautiful. There are lots of places to eat and stay (the impression I got was it was kind of upscale "resort" ish like Park City with lots of art galleries and things for yoga types.) There are LOTS of things to do and see on the way in and out of Zion.
Kodachrome Basin
Kanab
Kolob Canyon
Red Rock Canyon
Escalante Grand Staircase
Arches National Park
Bryce Canyon
and a bunch of other little roadside attractions or Indian Trading post type things. There is also amazing hiking within Zion/Bryce Canyon, or any of the other places listed above. Have fun!!! We can't wait to go back! |

Bryce is a must see in Winter! The Bryce Canyon Pines is a must stop for PIE!! It's about an hours drive for me. My wife and I go there about monthly for the Strawberry/Banana Cream pie. |

I couldn't agree more! Although they do get snow, and I personally would recommend a 4x4. We saw it in January. SOOOO beautiful! |

We went in November right before everything shut down. We wanted to bring our own horses to ride but couldn't find stabling. I'm glad we didn't...they (and us) wouldn't be used to the elevation and we would have had issues. As it was hiking took longer because we were out of breath.
I absolutely loved the snow against the red rocks and in the hoodoos, etc. It is AMAZINGLY beautiful. If you go into Springdale go into Blondie's Cafe...the girls there are some of the Wright Brothers' in-laws or cousins or something. We ended up chatting with them for hours over home made turkey noodle soup. |

We did the Riverside Walk, Emerald Pools, and started to do the Angels Landing trrail but quit the last one because it was SCARY! (I am afraid of heights.)
We want to go into the Narrows and do the Subway trail but we went in November which means for
1.) Narrows- you will get wet
2.) Subway (Bottom Up) you need a wilderness permit
We will go there and do these evetnually.
Here is a great site that lists all the trails and how easy/long they are:

Love all these hikes!! My family used to go to Zion every summer. We would stay in the Zion Lodge. Angels Landing has a fantastic view and the Narrows is amazing! You can get really great pictures and a good workout! Always pack a lunch, these trails can be long but definitely worth it. Have a great trip! |
