Hello all!  I am in a bit of a predicament...I feed renew gold and it is looking like my feed store might not carry it anymore. It's about a two hour drive to the closest place that sells it if my feed store stops carrying it. I'm wondering if anyone feeds anything similar or what would you suggest to feed instead?  I supplement with Platinum Performance and Forco. Thanks for your advice.

Now would be a good time to drop grain altogether. Feed beet pulp with hay cube/pellet soaked. You can mix your supplements in this. Your horse will thank you.

I use Platinum CJ, Forco, and feed Purina.  Also beet pulp and rice bran for my two big boys that need some extra calories.

Losing Renew Gold is a huge loss, seems like a lot of places around here have started to order less and less unfortunately! I put my easy keepers on it and swear by it. Soon we will be in the same position. I switched over to complete alfalfa 'pellets' (they're HUGE & Muggli brand which is a local business here in eastern MT). I agree with the others, it would be a good time to switch to a grain free, forage based diet :

Read the ingredients on the alfalfa complete pellets. Some of them add stuff like soybean hills or distiller grain by products. You think you are getting alfalfa pellets and vitamins/minerals, etc. But some of the ingredients were exactly what I was trying to get away from - grain. I am NOT saying ALL of them but SOME do.

Ours are clean of extra poop and fillers. Which is why we love them! Plus they're $10 for a 50lb bag. The eastern montana version of Hayrite lol

Why are some of these feed stores dropping Renew Gold?  I hope Tractor Supply does not decide to do that.

Do you have any BlueBonnet feed dealers anywhere around?

you can look up bluebonnet. I haven't tried it but alot of their products are on chewy.com and they ship it free. I order all my dog food there on autoship. they are SO good to help with any problems. I too, am 2 hours from a feed store so I end up ordering feed. But for my old horse he gets Bar Ale esteem complete. he quit eating renew gold for some reason. I liked renew gold but it didn't really work for my horses. weird. I fed as directed, too. so idk... I'm not a big fan of purina or nutrena, but you do what you can do.... maybe try alfalfa pellets if your horse can tolerate alfalfa. otherwise tons of my friends love Integrity feed, but I wasn't overly impressed with all the beet pulp shreds in it - seems like it was mostly beet pulp.

We are making and shipping more Renew Gold than ever. If you have trouble finding it, that would be a regional issue. Please just let me know and we will take care of it. We have more outlets carrying it every week, so we can help.

Help here, or PM me.

I just picked up a bag of Bluebonnets new Equiliene pro-care to try on my horse. He was on TC light but I just felt he was lacking some energy and I was feeding the Max recommended amount to him. With his workload increased I feel like he could use a little more in the feed department. Seems like a very nice feed ... I've just not had the best luck with beet pulp based feeds because I own a choker and have to be careful. But I think he will be ok with this. Hes choked multiple times on purina ultium gastric care. I hate soaking... especially in the summer heat because the flies are terrible and gross.

We bring ours in the house in one of those little 1-2 gallon(ish) sized buckets and run hot water on it. By the time you walk back its fully puffed out and you can just zap a splash of cold on it in the barn so its not hot to the touch. Then flies don't sit on it while it's soaking & they don't seem to bother it much while they eat it. It'll soak hay pellets fully in under 5 minutes too. It's handy. After we feed it, we just put in the amount for the next meal & it sits inside the back door until we put hot water in it again to walk down to the barn for the next feeding.

I soaked my feed inside my house everytime in warm water. During the winter I had no issues with flies ... but they are so bad in the summer ... even after he eats they swarm the feeder... hes sloppy so it gets everywhere. Must be the molasses or something they are attracted to so much. I strive to feed a dry pellet during the summer months that he wont choke on. I had a barrel of sr feed go rancid on me in the feed room because of the moisture and the hot humidity. I dont feed a bunch and only feeding 1 horse so I dont go thru it very fast at all.

Not that I'm aware of....we are pretty rural and isolated up here.

So good to know!!  I LOVE Renew Gold!  All my horses are on it but my feed store said that my mom and I are the only ones in the county that buy it.

I think Tractor Supplys carrys Renew feed, maybe check with one if you have any near you. Are talk to your feedstore person and maybe they will just keep enought Renew Gold for you instead of them ordering to much, worth a shot

Around here it's probably because TSC is so much cheaper. If it was just a matter of a few dollars, I'd still buy from the feed store, but I buy multiple bags a month and it's usually $5 or more a bag at the feed store vs TSC

I know my regular feedstore was always much higher on their RG than TSC. a new TSC opened up not that far from the feedstore and they were forced to drop their prices I guess, because they did... to match TSC. I will say this new TSC manager is amazing and he makes sure feed is fresh on the shelves. I appreciate that so much. Hes on top of things there. I told him he was doing a great service because the other tsc in the other side of town was awful about dates and keeping things in stock and I've seen expired supplements and old feed sitting on the shelves. That was always my biggest gripe with tsc
