If you own one, tell me what your therapy blanket has done for your horse/ why you use it.

I dont usually buy the "trendy" products but I do want to do extra things to help my horse feel his best and if this is truely one of those things then I am all ears. Specifically, I am looking at the XLR8. The quality seems to be good and the price point is very appealing. :)

Bump, I'd really love to know as well. I have a Back On Track blanket. Wondering what the difference is in this versus a magnetic blanket.

BOT is basically a low-key heating pad. PHT works. I don't know how, but it does  alleviate soreness and helps soft tissue heal faster. It's a good diagnostic tool too.

I have a HansboSport and I really like it, my mare sweated hard under the BOT and here in Ohio we usually have pretty high humidity, I really liked the PHT too but I sold what I had because it didn't fit the little mare and I haven't decided on color to buy another set.

i will give my story...

I got my dream filly September 12, 2020. She was 4 days post Peroneus Tertius Tendon Rupture of the right hind. She had been sold and then injured right before departure to her new home. Long story short... I had a mare I resented that I kept in my divorce and I had lost my passion for horses after selling the buckskin stud (Duncan) in my avatar pic. This filly has the same sire as Duncan. The breeder (smashedonpepper) reached out to me to see if I'd be interested in rehabbing her. So... we did the trade.

I got a Magna CU PHT blanket and started laying it over this filly's back since she was only 4 months old and NOTHING fit her! She would wear it 1 hour morning and night. I made sure the injured area was covered. I also bought Magna CU wraps and started wrapping both hinds every night for support as she was on stall rest for 90 days. At 60 days post injury we were able to start hand walking.

Through all of this she never foundered. Never got worse. I had never made the investement for therapy items for a horse before this. She is now 6 months post injury and 100% sound. I am getting ready to give her full pasture access during the day starting this weekend.

Now... I had rotator cuff surgery myself 3 weeks ago. All the stuff I used on her are currently being used on my shoulder. Between ice, the CU Rub (only thing that helps me) and sleeping under the blanket I'm healing great and my scarring on my shoulder is minimal.

So... all this being said... I am a HUGE believer in PHT after seeing first hand how it helped my filly and me. I won't try another brand.

The pics do this story NO justice.   Jordan's little filly is QUITE the story and the videos tell all!

I myself have used PHT items on horses.  Stifle injuries, hock support, neck support, and overall wellness.

My mom healed herself up after meniscus surgery.   I use them for menstural cramps and my knees.

I will NOT use anything else as far as magnetics.

Aww... Thank you. I really need to update her Facebook page journey so people can see. It's been so rewarding to see her go from the beginning of the injury when we didn't know if she'd ever be sound to watching her buck and do roll backs yesterday. She's quite the character.

But... Here's her pedigree for those interested!

I think my next therapeutic blanket I'm going to try those XLR8 velocity sheet. I've been following along with those for a while and the price is definitely right. I have a BOT and I like it in the cooler months but can't use it in the summer.. way too hot

I just have a duratech hood and sheet...if my horse has good news this fall the the fusing is working then I am planning on getting him a PHT one if I can. He is 17 so I just don't wanna go overboard if he has to retire soon. However since the hocks are the problem area I got PHT hock boots since PHT is way better quality. I prefer magnets since you can throw them on and not have to worry about how long you leave them on etc.

I am not sure how magnetic therapy works, however, I am confident it does! And furthermore, I can personally attest to copper therapy working on humans! ME! I have worn a copper bracelet for 13 years now and can feel the difference! Before I started wearing this bracelet (home made out of battery cable) my left arm would go numb as I slept on it. No numbness since I have worn this bracelet!

I know there are a lot of pictures on Kelchlin Quarter Horses. You can also look up my profile Jordan Kelchlin and I believe the album Cider's Rehab Journey is public. I need to work on finishing updating it.

Here are a couple of pictures from March 21. Cider got a little excited at freedom and ran through a smooth wire fence. She is scraped up a little, so she got CU Rub from PHT, Magna CU blanket time and wrapped with Magna CU wraps over night. This is how she wore her blanket during the phase where I rehabbed her.

I just purchased a benefab smartscrim. I love my bot mesh sheet but it's just too hot in the summer months. They have some quick wraps I'm eye balling as well!
