Location: Alabama | Okay, so I'm looking for a new saddle, I have 4 barrel horses, but the main concer is for it to fit a certain 2... My big pen building had real high, defined shoulders & wither with a thin build (tb build) where my short pen horse is build like a barrel small and round real wide build...
What's everyone's preference in a saddle that seems to fit most horses they try it on?

| I have always ridden Billy Cook but few years ago my husband got a Bob McKinney Pro racer and I love it so we bought 2 then we bought a Bobby Stiver and I love it. The only thing is the high horn I HATE but I just don't put it on a colt so I don't have to worry about it. The BC fits a female better than the others but they all seen to go from one horse to the other just change blankets. |

Location: North Dakota | I've come to the conclusion that "fits most horses" is a complete and utter myth. I liked my Marlene Mcrae, I like the Circle Y JBN. But neither fit all 3 of my horses. I'm ordering a Memes Brown this week. |

Location: Alberta | I have a Marlene McRae from Cactus that I find does fit a lot of horses. I also have a Billy Cook that doesn't seem to fit any horse I put it on these days. But I have used it on a lot of horses that it does fit and I like the way it sits on their backs. |

Location: Somewhere around here | I love my Tripple Creek saddle but this is my first one and I know I got the bars to big so I have to ride my horses in a built up saddle pad but I love it. Even with the built up pad it fits both of my horses pretty well. |

| I'm going through saddle issues. I just tried a Crown C demo but the gullet was too wide even with the shim. Liked how it felt though so I'm considering getting one with a 7" gullet. I have also been speaking to Meleta Brown about saddles and will try one of hers soon. SIGH |

Location: Always on call..... | I agree, no one saddle "fits everything". I have two horses built like yours and they definitely can't use the same saddle. That being said I have found the Martin Ironhorse saddles to be very versatile. I have two of them and with various pads I can make them work for most horses. I can use one on my narrow, high withered horse with a CE Biofit pad but it's not a great fit. These saddles have a lot of bar flare in the front so they fit my flat backed horse great. |

Location: Idaho | Love love my Coats!! I own a Crown C, Double J Pro and Cactus and when I go to reach for the saddle the fits best on my horses and I ride best in, I grab my Coats. I want another so bad so I've decided to sell the Crown C so I can get another Coats by next spring!! Great Great Saddles!! |

Location: North Dakota | I am a die hard Camarillo rider and after trying a couple different saddles on different horses I am using a CSI pad to make up for the lack of fit in my saddles. I can say the meleta brown saddle fit both of my horses very well and they are both pretty different, I just feel more secure in the Camarillo. I think that if I can't ride the horse what is the point of the saddle fitting ::) (mine are by no means terrible fits, just not quite as good as they should be) |

Me too! But I think I like the Rocket best. It seems to fit so many of my horses. My ProMax hasn't fit as many. |

Location: Georgia | I love my performance saddle company saddle. It fits every horse I put it on with some pad changes. They are a lot like caldwells, the same quality, but don't cost as much. |

Location: Paducah, Ky | I've never ridden in one but I am a certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist and out of all the horses I have massaged in the last year 4 were not back sore all owned and ridden by different people different shapes and sizes but the comin denominator was the saddle they rode in and I have vowed I will own one one day lol it's a Coats Saddle I was just blown away all horses are back sore to an extent and to run my hands over one that wasn't blew my mind. I got my certification because I had a horse I couldn't keep happy I bought him three different saddles and hauled him to have him custome shimmed and he was STILL sore. |

| you are going to get as many different answers as if you asked us what our favorite colors are, LOL.. but here's my faves:
for the narrower horses with strong shoulders and withers: Triple Creek regular tree
for the horses built like a barrel: Crown C or Martin Racer
I have a Martha Josey wide tree that seems to fit everything but I personally don't like it 9I think the seat is a bit big for me) so although it fits the horses...it's not my fave. i have never ridden a Coats or a Caldwell but I'm sure for the price I would LOVE them. |
