Location: Home....Smiling M Farms | All you creative folks, come hither!  I need some creative Christmas ideas for my mom and dad. They both have everything, so coming up with ideas on good gifts is hard. I thought about making mom some homemade lotions or something like that, but the ingredients on some of those are really expensive and I'd hate for it to not turn out right. :/
Mom is a workout junkie. Does her aerobics every morning, lunch break, after work, whenever. She has tons of work out clothes, shoes, DVDs, equipment, the works. She works in a pharmacy and loves getting good deals on things.
Dad is an outdoorsman. He likes to go hunting and loves his guns. He is also a health nut, takes his vitamins and drinks his alkaline water. When he's not at work, he's on the farm on a tractor. I literally have no idea what to get him, like my mother he has one of everything.
Any and all ideas welcome please! I've pretty much got everyone else done....minus the 2 most important one's here. |

 Am I really the Weirdo?

Location: Kansas | My boyfriend just ordered his parents photo collage travel mugs with some of his rodeo pictures on them. They both have most everything they need and if they want it, they buy it. The mugs should arrive Saturday and I'm hoping they are awesome. We also got his dad a URA Finals jacket with his name embroidered on it, and his mom is getting a URA Finals throw blanket. Matt is a director in the URA and most of the finals goodies are saved for contestants or personnel, so his parents don't have much to show for all the rodeos they've been to as his/our support system. I will probably end up getting his mom something for her dog....a framed picture of Bella if I can get a good one taken this weekend, and I'm not sure what I'll do for his dad.....maybe tickets to the rodeo I'm entering over new years. It's close to their house and Matt doesn't plan to enter, but his dad will probably want to go at least a couple nights.
Now if I can just decide what to get Matt....... |

I got both of them nice travel mugs last Christmas....I'm pretty sure they are still in the boxes. That and they really don't care about the horses/rodeo/all that. Maybe if I had just a nice picture of me and one of my horses in a frame, but I'd have to have somebody to take the picture. :/ lol |

Hate it when you give a gift and then see it still in the box a year later. My mom has a neat pasta cooker I got her last year still in the wrapper. I really want to steal it and figure she'll never notice LOL. |

I know! It really made me sad! My dad is the big boss at his work, so I got him a coffee mug that is shaped like a grenade. It says "for complaints, pull the pin". I thought that was hysterical! Yet it still sits in a box in the laundry room, right next to mom's "You think your job is hard, I'm a mom to 2 girls!" mug.

| We gave my dad a Bass Pro gift card for his birthday. He bought stuff that I would never have thought he wanted. He likes to drink coffee with the men at McDonalds so we got him a card from there to. My mom is so hard to buy for so not sure what to get her. They both pretty much go get what they need thu out the year so I know what you mean. |

| I'm going to second the gift card to a Bass Pro Shop or Cabelas for your dad. I did this for mine the past couple years, and like a previous poster said, I would've never thought to buy him what he picked out on his own. As for mom, maybe a gift certificate to a spa? And you could two could go together and have a mother-daughter day! |

Location: Oklahoma | I don't think I've ever heard a guy say "I have too many guns. No more." ;) if you don't know what kind he would like then a GC would be a great start.
As for your mom I like the idea of a spa certificate... Or maybe a mani/pedi?
Probably not the most "creative" ideas, but I don't think they would go unappreciated! |

Location: Down South | How about a picture transfer onto wood? A picture of themselves or of family. I am doing this for gifts this Christmas. I have access to old wood or you can purchase/use new wood also. I'm attaching the link to the directions I am using. Supplies are of minimal cost. I haven't started my projects yet, but intend to this weekend. This will be a unique and treasured gift.

I did this last year for Christmas gifts. They turned out great. I will caution you though that it took more elbow grease than I expected. lol I was beginning to think it wasn't going to work...it doesn't rub off quite as easy as they make it sound. |

Location: Lost in the corn of Iowa. | My in laws are terribly hard to buy for, for the very same reason. They have everything they'll need and if they need it, then they just get it. And of course they have a drawer full of gift cards from friends and other family. They raise thier own beef, chicken and pork so the gift of a beef is out. And my MIL doesn't need another knick knack in the house!! LOL!! What my husband and I got them this year was a small meat bundle of elk and bison meat from a local elk farm. They both love to cook and grill out and it's something that they have enjoyed in the past. Plus it's healthy, and they don't have to leave home and can have a nice meal. It's an idea at least.  |

| Don't know where you live but what about a night at a hotel and tickets to the Grand Old Opry in Nashville. We have given my parents that a couple of times and every year or two they remind us that they loved that gift so we will give it to them again. If you aren't close enough for that what about somewhere in your area they might like a park, museum, or just a night in a hotel with room service.
We have paid for my MIL's satellite for a year, paid to have the propane tank filled, subscribed to her favorite magazine, Once my SIL joined her into the cheese of the month thing (she loved it because she loves cheese) Fruit basket of the month.
These are ideas I thought were dumb at first but old people like stuff like this. LOL (I'm old 53) |

Just started filling the cart with everyday things everyone uses. For instance.....dishwashing liquid, scissors, note pads, oil for weed eaters/lawnmowers, toilet paper (even), SOS pads, paper towels, hand soap and the list goes on and on. He told me it was the best gift he had ever gotten. |

I usually do this for everyone in my family that graduates, has a baby, gets married what ever the life changing events is and everyone has come to expect it. Even had a nephew tell his wife they could not get married yet because they hadn't gotten there Auntcie box yet. People love these type gifts. |
