I am considering doing this (mostly volunteer work) as it has been a lifelong dream, I want to do it while I'm young! Any advice? Any Countries you'd recommend? I'd really like to go to Uganda, Swaziland and Kenya in Africa and maybe a few in South America... |

| I agree about Africa. The South American countries would be interesting. I just talked to someone about Chile, I think I would like to go there. You might look into Central America, too. |

You mean because of the Eboli? Isn't this just in the Western part of Africa? I haven't been keeping up with the news the best lately.... I'm planning this for about 1.5-2yrs in the future... |

| Also because of the unrest over there. Things change so quickly over there. |

Do you speak any foreign languages? That might be a place to start, however, many places people speak English quite well.
So, being that I have had the opportunity to travel quite extensively .... I would look long and hard at WHERE within the African continent you'd be. Not just the country but what part of the country? My BFF from high school has traveled/lived in Africa extensively (humanitarian aid work) and there are certainly parts to stay the h3!! away from. I think it is wild and amazing and beautiful. I'd research what country was having a war before I'd book a ticket.
Personally, I have been through quite a few countries in S. America. I loved everyone of 'em. Argentina was great - lots of livestock. Chile was wonderful for food and hiking. Peru was probably my favorite for cultural things to learn. Uraguay was amazing and I LOVED the food from there and we spent a lot of time Salsa dancing.
I'd love to take the time and go travel some more ... hmmmmm, you may have inspired me to bucket list some places for the SO and I to hit up in the future!!
OH!! AND .... hoard your old passports! When you renew, you can ask for the old one to be returned! I love looking back at the old stamps and remembering places, not to mention my old pictures! |

| I'd love to travel around Europe! Especially Switzerland considering that's where all my ancestors came from! London, Paris, Berlin, Greece, Spain, I even think the Netherlands would be so cool! Too bad I have a fear of planes, and boats.... LOL |

Location: North Dakota | Β I would choose Europe. I've been to Scotland and quite frankly I didn't want to come back! It's a beautiful country with amazing food and so much history! Walking around in castles several hundred years older than America is trippy. |

My idea of traveling would be Europe as well. I just think it would be super interesting. I thought about Canada, but I wasn't sure I could learn the language. No offense Canadian board buddies! ETA: I meant that as a joke. :-)

Β I'm pretty sure Canadian English is easier to understand verses the various languages all over Europe (unless your fluent?)...not sure how we differ...all areas have different words for the same thing?!
Canada is a beautiful country to tour it offers many variations of scenery as you travel from coast to coast....

I was joking, tongue in cheek so to speak. We have relatives in Canada, and we are next door neighbors to Canada, living in Montana. I'm not fluent in other languages, and that was probably why it was funny...to me any ways. |

Location: Never in one place long | Europe would be great but I'm thinking something more "wild" and less traveled. I've been to Euope 3 times already to Ireland, Croatia, Slovenia and France and traveling to Germany this year. I know there is a lot more to explore in Europe but we're more likely to go there as my husband loves traveling there.
Great advice!! I do know Spanish fairly well but have trouble forming complete sentances! I would want to go through a reputable organization to do my volunteer work etc. |
