Location: west of East Texas | My daughter's horse is having a bad day. This is the 8yo Frenchmans Bogie daughter that the whole family has done well on. She got kicked on the hock on March 5th then tore a hole in tendon on June 4th throwing a hissy fit in the barn. Since March, she has spent about half the time at Texas Equine Hospital with Dr. Honnas and staff. She last came home on July 5th to be turned out and on low doses bute. She had a checkup on August 3rd. She was doing OK but we were basically told not to get our hopes up and just turn her out and pray. The best thing for her at this point was time. Tonight she is limping worse than she has since June. I've accepted that she may never compete again and she's already earned her forever home here. What I definitely don't want is to prolong her agony. Prayer is powerful and this awesome horse needs every one she can get. If you have time, please add Geraldine to your list. Thank you! |

We take my girl Sat to see a lameness vet, and I'm so worried about what he's gonna tell us. Between confirmation and hard use before we got her, I fear that I may not get to ride Two anymore. (But her being comfortable and pain free is most important, so I'll do exactly what I'm told to!!) Don't mean to take over your thread---I just wanted to say I am adding Geraldine to my list to pray for because I totally understand how you feel. Hugs to you all |

Location: NE Texas | chansendacash and Chandlers Mom, before you guys give up, please contact Dr. Schell either through the forum or directly at www.secondvet.com. These type cases that are showing little to no response through traditional clinical treatment are the type of cases he likes the most. He has had alot of success in getting horses that have exceeded traditional treatments sound and usable again. I would love to take each of your horses and put them on his program for 90 days and see what we have then. You might be amazed. Please give him a shot to help you. I know I sound like a late night info-mercial, but he has been the saving grace for my horse when other vets had given him no hope. |

Location: Central Texas | I don't know the exact issue on the tendon but you may want to contact Dr. Hand about Novobrace for stablizing the tendon. You can google and research it some. Good luck and healing prayers sent your way. |
