| I can't find my last post on salt/mineral licks for the pasture. I've decided to try a loose mineral instead. What are some of the better ones out there? That the horses will actually eat . |

| protect it from the elements i use to put about a coffee can full out for 9 head then when cleaned up put out more |

I switched from Hoffmanns, my horses use less of the buckeye and look better, really noticed it in the feet. Some of my horses had Shelly feet on the Hoffmanns, on the buckeye mineral, I have beautiful smooth healthy looking feet that are not chipping or cracking |

| I use Tribute- grass plus loose minerals. Horses eat it better than any other I have used. They look good. Many of mine get only pasture and this plus plain salt.

| I can't get the better name brand minerals around here so I buy the HORSE minerals at the feed store. The are put out by a local feed mill. I am happy with them. |

| Gro Strong minerals are about the best but I cannot get them anywhere near me. I buy HORSE minerals made by Martindale Feed Mill MFM and have been happy with them.
The next time I go to the vet in Bossier City to get Platinum I think I will go by the feed store out by the track and check with them. Bet they have Gro Strong

I went with the progressive minerals since they carry it at my local feed store. I also saw the adm gro strong minerals there too. With all the drama surrounding adm lately would the minerals be considered "safe" ? The gro strong was considerably cheaper than the progressive. I know my horses must have needed it because when I put them out they went crazy over it. |

Check your tag carefully- a lot of mills have mineral companies make their mineral for them in the feed mill's private bags. Kind of like Walmart ketchup is made by Heinz. Not very many facilities in the US actually make mineral. So it could in fact be an ADM mineral but you will be able to see it on the fine print on the tag, not the bag.
I think ADM was an excellent product but they do make a lot of medicated cow mineral so you have to do your research and decide for yourself. |
