Location: East Texas | As always, the media will bring up the stupidest things like "Trump Brings Business Approach, Not Hugs to Texas". WHAT???!!! My daughter posted this on FB this morning and I could not agree with her more:
People:
I have been glued to news since Harvey hit. My Dad is Corpus Christi and was right in Harvey's path. I have family in Houston now that have lost everything. I have friends outside of Houston that have been affected by the flooding. I have also watched as people put their own lives at risk to make rescue after rescue since DAY 1 to save people and animals. People from ALL over the US have come together.....donating money, collecting items to donate and volunteering their time, their boats, their lives.....to help in any way they can. I have also listened daily to this FEMA guy, Long talking logistics. I would hate to have his job but someone like him has to do it. There are so many people behind the scenes that are coordinating so many things.....food, shelter, housing, staffing, finding volunteers.....etc. These IMPORTANT people are not the ones you see on TV. What you see on TV are the people making the high water rescues, saving people from nursing homes and assisted livings, saving horses, cows, cats and dogs, carrying babies and people in high waters. My point is.....people from everywhere....from every walk of live are coming together to help in every way they can and know how to do. They are people from all walks of life. They are white collar people, blue collar people, white people, black people, short people, tall people, highly intelligent people and those without a High School diploma. Each one coming to help in the best way they know how to do. Isn't this how it should be?
I say all of this because I AM SO SICK hearing about politics in the middle of a freaking disaster. The President of the US came to Corpus and didn't hug anyone! A HUG? Really???? I am making this point only because I am a HUGGER. That is who I am. I will fight to save you and then will hug you after I do. But, there also others of us who show up in a disaster and a hug is the last thing you are gonna get from them. Those people are wired different....have all sorts of things running through their minds on how they are gonna fix the situation. And that is Ok! Because it takes all kinds of people in a crisis. So don't judge someone just because they showed up and didn't give a hug. I know this first hand! My FB friends, who know my husband and have worked with him in any major situation know he will not be the one to show up and give you HUG. In fact, that would be the last thing he would do. His mind is turning, he is barking orders and already has a plan, a back-up plan and a back-up back-up plan. That doesn't mean he doesn't care. That is who he is, what he is good at and what he does best. And this is how many other people are too......including Trump. "Fixers" and "Huggers".....both doing what they do best in a crisis. And that is OK.
SO PLEASE PEOPLE......for once let the freaking politics go! Let the man do what he does.....his JOB. Focus on what YOU can do....in a positive way. Now is the time for us all to come together instead of wasting your time criticizing someone for how you think they should do something!
RANT OVER!

| My mom was there and she said it was great. Although you couldn't hear him, the crowd was cheering him. As for protesters, she didn't see any but a young man recorded the only 2 he saw- s man and woman in black with a F#%^k Trunp sign. She said she thought were a couple thousand supporters.

| No surprise at all that the media would find some fault. They are still crying in their beers over the B*TCH losing the election. |

Location: MO | Whaty a great response!! Very well said! I don't care who you voted for and who is in office at the monment if they are trying to HELP the situation.
I have to add...The backlash over his wife's outfits is just as terrible. THAT IS what everyone is focused on? REALLY?!?!!? So she wore Stillettos. What if she changes them to rain boots, and work clothes and digs in to help. Would they praise her then? Probably not.
Sickening that it has come to this! |

| Very well said. I am so tired of the Media, but I guess if we didn't have them, we wouldn't know the good stuff either. |

How many disasters did Obama MISS because he was on vacation?! I'm a hugger, but in this situation it takes more than hugs to fix anything. Let the man do his job because I dang sure don't want it. |

Location: southeast Texas | She should have wore steletto rubber boots ;) I'm glad he came down to Texas and let us know he has our back. He has done some crass things in his life but right now he is a class act. right now people have been in flood waters, it's really humid out and a lot of them don't smell the best. I don't want to hug people because of the way I smell. Spot baths are just not cutting it. if I see one of those reporters, I am becoming a hugging person, long long hug ;)

| I must be one of the only people who could care less if a president went to a disaster zone. They can get reports and fly over if necessary. It's just not that important to me. Law enforcements resources needs to be used on the public and maintaining order and safety. If he gave a speech from the White House that would be fine with me.
That being said, I think the Governor, Mayors and city management are doing a great job. I would not wish this on anyone but they are handling this like champs. I do not live in Texas anymore but I am so proud of how they are dealing with this. Go Texas!

Location: Kansas | Trump donated $1,000,000 (personal money) to the relief fund. Now the left is giving him a hard time for not giving more but so far I haven't heard that Nancy Pelosi or Hillary Clinton have matched that....... I'm waiting. Come on guys, cough it up.
