Oh my at all the answers you're gonna get!! We've used Platinum CJ for several years on the whole herd. I've said before on here that I truly believe it helped my Doodlebug feel good and buck and kick and carry on right up to the end of his 39 years.

If you're looking for a pharma - Previcox.Β

I have used Previcox before and it helped on some cold winter days when Dan needed a little extra help. . . .

this is the absolute only thing that is going to help.

We have an older (19) kid horse with arthritic knees and all the family peeps wanted to supplement her into comfort. I said Previcox, they spent thousands of dollars and tons of wasted time trying to find somehting that would work.

She's on previcox daily now and feels like a 17 yr old(joke in case anyone needed that pointed out

Nothing else is going to work so if you really want to help the horse, give it previcox

I LOVE Tight Joints Plus for my 28 year old retired gelding and it's affordable plus there's a BHW discount code!  It has been life changing for him.

Not all horses respond well to previcox, just saying.

Previcox did not help our gelding. So I went to a round of pentosan injections and he is sound and happy with nothing else on board.

You might check out fortheloveofthehorse.com. I was also wanting something for my 3 older senior horses. I did a questionnaire and they got back in contact with me and I ordered what they suggested. Haven't gotten it yet so don't know if it will work or not.

I appreciate the responses/feedback so far. I realize that feed thru supplements are not always the most effective, but I don’t believe we are at the point of injections. So my question now is, what is geared towards the aging horse? I was at the new Fleet Farm in town yesterday and was overwhelmed by all the options for joint/pain issues and preventatives.

How old is your horse?  He's never got injections?  I would totally just inject!  That's a game changer. No joint supplement will do better than injections, and previcox won't even help as much as injections.

Exceed 6-Way helped my older 2 a lot. They also get hock injections. Prevocix works well for my navicular horse, but didn't help the arthritic one at all. 1g of bute worked far better. Previcox gives mine ulcers pretty quickly, so it becomes expensive. It's much harder on their system than bute or banamine paste, at least for mine. I inject their hocks once a year in April and it helps a lot, but by October/November the effects of the injections are typically worn off. The gelding I run has dry joints and anytime you do get fluid from them there's no elasticity, it's like water. The 25 year old had decent fluid consistency, but there would be little of it. After starting them on Exceed a couple years ago I see the effects of my injections lasting until the end of the year with both of them. And when the needle is inserted into the hock to drain the natural fluid, both disperse several drops of perfect elastic fluid. These horses were injected for years and there's no other explanation for the change in joint fluid other than the Exceed 6-Way, especially when they were 17 and 23 at the time. Plus it's clinically proven and has a 60 day money back guarantee if you're not fully satisfied. I was a big Platinum user and I'll never go back, Exceed packs way more punch than even the Platinum CJ does, for a much cheaper price. I also had good luck many many years ago with another horse with just inject-able glucosamine I got from my vet. It was about $70 for a year supply and then I used MSM pellets.
