| This horse along with another was dumped near where I live. Near Fort Hood in Killeen, TX. They are trying to find out where they may have came from. Very thin. Not saying they were dumped by the brand but it may give some answers as to where they may have came from .. |

| http://www.tscrabrands.com/ Texas Brand Registration, might be time consuming, or you may be able to call them. Worth a shot! Poor babies being dumped like that. |

Location: Kansas | It's my understanding they get so many kill horses in Mexico that they haul some of them back across the border and dump them wherever...............disgusting. |

| This poor thing didnt get in this condition over night. Hopefully they can find a home for it or a rescue. Probably was a kill pen horse not fit for slaughter, I could see that happening. |

I dont know them personally. My niece does and she shared the information with me. I'm trying to follow along with them, apparently they had several people reach out to help but no one has followed thru. They got in touch with a few rescues was the last thing I heard. :-( we are supposed to get down into low 30s this week with bad north winds... I pray these guys get where they need to be. I have a few extra older blankets laying around I'll donate if they need. I cleaned out my tack room today getting blankets out for my 2. |

| 1. In Texas you do not have to register a brand 2. Brands in Texas are only registered in one county so someone in the next county can use that same brand and register it. (6666 is registered in every county in TX, all 254) 3. The killers in Mexico only take horses with a higher body scale 4. It is not easy to get horses across the border especially back into the US. 5. Horses could be stolen. Thieves may not have been able to get rid of them especially since they are branded. People are so stupid that they think that everyone wants to buy a horse. It has never occurred to them that you actually have to feed the horse. You might get lucky checking with AQHA on the brands. I doubt they have a brand data base. |

| At one point in this horses life someone cared enough to go thru the process of branding him. It just makes you wonder how he ended up being discarded like a peice of trash. It .makes me sad. And I know theres oodles more that have the same fate and probably worse. No updates this morning but I believe the people that stumbled upon him are taking care of him. I went and read more there was another horse dumped near them several months back they arent sure if they are related incidents or not because of the length of time in between. The other didnt wear a brand. That one was lucky enough to find a caring home. |

No-one is intrested in them they are just pasture horse and I understand that but they are my babies... I refuse to take them to any kind of SELL b/c who knows where the heck they may end up and in what condition. so , what do I do??? Put them down and do it with peace knowing I did my best to take care off them and at least I know they had the best life I could give them? I just can't do it... so I just struggle to take care of my babies like I promised when I bought them... |

I know what you mean.. and bless you for doing your best for their best. I pray every night for my horses, I give thanks for having them and I give thanks for being able to provide for them and pray to be able to continue to do so. I'm down to just 2 geldings now. I was lucky and blessed to have found a nice home for my ringbone older retired gelding, he went to a little girl who just wanted a horse to take care of and lightly ride around. They didnt have the trailer to come get him so we hauled him 3 hours to them. It made me happy for him when I saw the place he was going to. They were building him a cute little personal sized barn and he had a nice sized shady pasture all to himself. We just sold our 5 yr old when the right offer came in... we went back n forth on selling that one for a few years... then we bought a nice little older paint horse for my daughter to learn to breakaway on and she just dropped the bomb on me that she no longer wants to do horses... insert major eyeroll here.... ugh.. I have my good horse still, hes mostly a roping horse but I've been playing on the barrels with him for quite some time... I'm planning on exhibitions come spring... so ... now we are stuck wondering do we sell the older paint horse or just hang onto him, hes a good horse, old pro at everything, seasoned and majorly laid back.. figured he'd be good to haul along with my gelding when I start going ... I don't know though. I have the room and means to care for him right now but I eventually will probably want a more competitive horse for barrels... guess I'll worry about that when the time comes! I dont like selling horses... at all... I still get a little queasy when I think of the 5yr old we just sold but I know it was probably the best thing to do . I didnt really enjoy riding him much and we kept dumping money into his training... |

I have SO much respect for you and what you're doing. I know not everyone feels the same, but I make a promise to mine to take care of them until it's time to let them go. They trust me and have given me so so much that I owe them love and good care for their lifetime. I've had people try to buy a couple of mine, but they aren't going anywhere, they're my babies! Good luck to you and yours |

I didn't mean to come across as judging anyone if they sell a horse, etc. I know there are people who love their horses and sell them to wonderful homes. Just wanted to apologize if I came across as a hussy!!! |
