Just wondering if Nettles really are as great as people say - specifcally in alleviating knee pain.  I've had terrible knees for years, but it is starting to get old just toughing through it LOL OR if you have any other suggestions of course!

I made the switch from slanted metal stirrups to Nettles, love mine. Jumped on another saddle with metal stirrups and did not have as good as balance and my knees hurt later. The cost is worth it.

Absolutely yes!  I got the levelers in mine due to a hip replacement and knees that have seen better days.  Worth every penny.

yes! nettles with levelers! i won't ride in anything else. i tried and it was painful again. order from rockyroad for sure!

Love Nettles Stirrups!!! Well worth the money...you won't know until you try :)

They are the best, I had used them on a saddle I had and loved them. I made sure I ordered a pair for the new saddle I got.

I see that there are many styles of nettles. Which do you guys like for running barrels?

The Halfbreeds.With the rubber grip, you can order the rubber grip to be put on them when you order the stirrups.

Not too hijack, but how are Don Orrells in comparison to Nettles?

I have not used either stirrup, but I've promised myself I will own a pair of Orrells one day.   Know the family and loved meeting Don and his wife and hearing about their product and how it's made. . . 

And it was SO popular with the grippy pads, that they now have the same style with them that they call the Barrel Racer!  This is it in the Varnished finish.  Glad you are still loving yours!

I sell the Barrel Racer style, hands down, to folks that barrel race.  It used to be a few liked the Flatbottoms, and as Roxy said, the Halfbreeds (with or without the rubber grip pad), but now with the Barrel Racer being the same thing as the HB, but the grip pad as standard, that is what folks go for - especially since they can get them in SO many different finishes.  

I have one bad knee from an old football injury.  It was more of a nuisance for my entire adult life, until we slipped and fell while loping circles on some muddy ground, about 8 years ago. Somehow that really buggered up my bad knee, making it even worse.  My ACL, medial collateral ligament, and medial meniscus have all been shot, and I'm sure arthritis is setting in on top of all that.  One bad knee can really throw off a person's balance and riding. In fact, it can be dangerous.  I kept hearing good things about Nettles stirrups, but I couldn't figure out what makes them so special.  By chance, I bought a cutting saddle which I prefer running in and, as luck would have it, it had Nettles stirrups.  I noticed a difference almost right away.  Now my knee still bother me, especially during a posting trot, but the pain is much more tolerable now.  I think they help a lot.  Don't ask me why.  They just do.

They are very balanced for one.  And the layers of wood have a lot of "give" to them - not that you could squeeze them, but just not so hard & jarring on your joints.  And yep, they really DO help!  And the Levelers make them even more joint comfy!  (You can get the Levelers added to any pair of Nettles - at least the Premium ones, not sure they will do it on the Economy ones).
