My alma mater, University of Tennessee at Martin's mens rodeo team won the National Championship this year at the CNFR and i'm so proud of them. They narrowly beat Tarleton State in Stephenville, but they did it. This is the first National Championship the rodeo teams have won, though both the mens and womens teams have been Nationally ranked several times before. Big kudos to Coach John Luthi and his wife, Diane. They had their hands full when they committed to take the job at Martin with us misfits, but they got it done and managed to get most of us whipped into shape. I'm so proud to have been a part of UTM rodeo and to have had the opportunity to have been coached by the Luthi's. They were a huge part in the person I strived to be both competitively and morally, and taught us all that with hard work, anything is possible. So congrats to the UTM Rodeo Men's team and the Luthis for being 2014 National Champions!
And on a side note, my husband is born and bred Stephenville Texas and a Tarleton grad, so I have gotten ALOT of mileage out of this saying that there is a "NEW COWBOY CAPITAL NOW!!!". HAHA
