Location: Oklahoma		My gelding had a cough while warming up last spring/summer (I only got to work with him from May to end of August).  Had him scoped and the vet said that he had some inflammation.  Gave him Dex for 10 days (IM) and then gave him 2.5CCs (IM) 2-2.5 hours out.  Cough was gone as long as I gave the Dex prior to warming up.  I went ahead and had the vet (different vet from the one that scoped him in June) draw blood for allergy testing when he took blood for EPM.  The allergy test came back and the vet said that his biggest problem was oats.... and ants and some sort of fly and I believe some kind of mold that's found in grass hay??  I'm not 100% sure.  I think I am going to talk to our extension agent and see what all kind of tests he can run on my hay.  Maybe I can find out if some other irritant is in the grass bale. 

I am feeding Renew Gold with his a scoop of his THE MM blend.  I have recently added Vit. E, but this was after the blood was drawn.  He's on a grass bale with a flake or two of alfalfa/timothy daily.  At that time he was running he was on either Purina Strategy (not sure if it has oats or not) or Bluebonnet Intensify Omega Force (does contain ground oats).  Are oats a typical ingredient in everything?  I feel like I could elimiate the oats, but not I'm not sure about the ant/fly allergy.  I think I might go the desensitizing route for those. 

Anyone have any experience with the drops or shots?  Preferences?  Would the ant/fly allergy even be causing the cough?
