Ok.. Here goes!
My gelding 7 weeks ago kicked the stall wall causing one of the 2x6 boards to break and hitting the back of his leg as it came down. As soon as it happend I iced his legs. Immediate stall rest. Vet came out two/three days later ultrasounds. Said sensitive to palpating, NO tears but there is some inflammation. Told me 6 weeks off and stall rest hand walking. Cold hosing, icing, apply surpass, and I bought back on tracks. Done all this religiously!!! . Re ultrasounded last Thursday she said his leg looks perfect!! No sensitivity to palpating what so ever, ultrasound showed perfect fibers not a one out of place!!! , no more inflammation!! She said return to work slowly and return to turn out slowly. I have been putting him in a makeshift elect fence pen just big enough to where he can't run and act really stupid.so I thought....
But he bleew up was able to get a bout a stride r two into a lope in that pen
(he's a small bugger
) and bucks a few times. I check his leg multiple times afterwards. No sensitivity, no heat, no swelling. This was two days ago. No swelling while out after that. I stalled him back up yesterday morning because of rain. By the afternoon his leg has some puffiness, no sensitivity to palpating. Other legs are within normal for being stalled just not as big as the one that was injured. I put sore no more and wrapped it and it's has gone down. And no riding. Still no sensitivity.
Question really is: is this normal for an old injury? Is this just stocking up and in just too dang nervous about re injury??
(Prob so
)
What are your experiences post injury.
