I just recently got a new saddle. I really like it. However, when I sit the saddle on my horse's back the back of the saddle is up in the air. The saddle is sitting on a nice wool pad. The saddle is not "level" across my horse. I was wondering everyone's opinion on shims to balance the saddle. It is not bad at all. Just enough for me to be bothered by it. Thnx.

If your saddle is doing this because it's just a tiff too wide, you may be able to shim it with something like this  http://www.equibrand.com/Saddle-Shims-p147/
If the tree has too much rock for your horse, then you are much better off getting another saddle as it is the wrong shape and will eventually cause soreness. Either way it is just a bandaid and you will be risking the health and safety of your horse's back.
