The older I get, the more I am aware of human frailty. I think when we are younger, if we're healthy, there is a sense that we're invincible. Bulletproof. I know that each passing year, I become more aware of how UNTRUE it ever was in my life or anyone else's.
It's not only my own body that makes me aware or this through its creaking and cracking. It's the people around me. My Dad,whom , I always thought was the strongest person, tires more quickly, doesn't want to do anything. My Mom, who used to stand in the grandstands to watch us run barrels, gets around more carefully. And then there are friends, battling cancer, finances, loss of memory, another diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, yet another paralyzed from horse accident. We don't think about what could be next.
While Jesus always ministered to people's physical problems, the focus of a His ministry was on the spiritual condition. That's our focus too, it's WHAT LAST! I am grateful for verses like this one above, which speaks to the transformation of our bodies. It puts it in a nutshell the whole story of Jesus' death and resurrection. And it promises that jut as in our bodies we must follow Him in death, and we WILL RISE again with new bodies, as He did.
Copy Philippians 3:21 and put into your pocket today. EVERY TIME Yôur body reminds you of it's limitation, CLAIM the promise that Jesus is transforming you into His likeness, both physically and spiritually. For it is WITH God ALL things ARE possible.
