Today is
My Farrier sets the shoe back a bit on hoof, and then cuts off the toe that hangs over and rasps to make everything flush.
When I first started using him, he was doing it on one horse to correct his angles. That was almost 2 years ago. Now he does it on both of my horses.
Is this an okay practice? Or should I be looking for a new Farrier? My horses have no lameness issues and their feet always look great to me...
I dont know if it is proper, but my farrier does this with my gelding...not drasticly though. But, I will also say that he is trying to correct underrun heels, so maybe this is why he does it--to back and stand the foot up more?
