Last year, I lost my barrel horse due to a tumor and old age :
( I ran my fastest times on him he was so solid and dependable I don't think I'll ever find another one like him. However, I have a colt I started last year he's four now but having to start all the at the beginning has me a little unmotivated to ride him regularly. By no means is it his fault he's a very talented and well minded colt
(when he's not fresh lol
) any suggestions?

I understand...you just have to keep thinking he can be just as or even better then the older horse. Positive thinking. It's hard at first, but once you see the progress it's worth all the "lazy" days of not wanting to. But you also have to make sure it's something you want to do. Hate to say it, but at one point you will lose this guy. It's part of life
( sadly
), but if you keep on working with him and getting in that saddle, you'll hopefully have years of enjoyment and happiness with a horse that YOU trained!
