I just found a little girl named Katniss.
My husband changed one of our horses names from Kate to Katniss after watching Hunger Games.
Katniss was a brave young girl in an adult's stupid idea of sport. She did the best she could to survive and get back to her family. She has grit and determination...that's my Katniss! |

That's soo cute. I loved the books, movie and the name. So cute your husband changed the name. I took my hubby to the first movie. He thought it was stupid/weird. Sometimes I think he is that!! |

I have a yearling registered as Kateniss, but her momma is Uptown Kate, so it kinda relates. Not sure how I feel about naming little girls that, though. Maybe it will become a popular name and we won't think twice about it in the future. But it really is a much better name choice than some of the others I've heard! |

That's what I was thinking. I remember reading somewhere that the first time the name Wendy was used was in Peter Pan.
I like graciemay's reference to the character Katniss' qualities, still a little too uncommon a name for my choice for a person, tho. |
