What is your set temperature? Tomorrow is gonna be 56 with 10-15 mph winds. What temp do you think is too cold?

That  ^^^^^^....just too cold. I will wait till it gets into the 80's and above here. If its to cold for me to take a bath it sure would be for the horses too.

I wouldn't mind 56 if there's no wind, sun is shining, and the water was heated.

I'm thinking just doing manes and tails, they would be sitting in a warm, heated barn afterwards until they're completely dry.

My horses wouldnt be able to have a bath until July or August if I followed this. It was 40 above here today and felt great.. I think 56 would be boarderline.

You're in Iowa. That probably feels downright balmy to you, lol.

I am like the other poster. If it's too cold for me to get wet outside, I don't bathe them. Drives me crazy because I'm a clean freak and you see the color of my horse. And the other guy is grey. My dream is a heated shower stall.

If there is wind--no way.  I live in AZ and 70-75 is a good temperature.  Maybe even 60-65 but the sun has to be out and no breeze.

I will bathe one at that temp but in the barn out of the wind and with warm water and heater.

At 60 with no wind and some sun anyway.

I won't bathe a horse unless it's at least 75 degrees out.

I was just telling my husband how EXCITED I was to bathe my horses this week! I do believe, fingers crossed, the "6 more weeks of winter" is coming to an end.

60 - 65 is usually my minimum, the humidity here makes a pretty big difference though.

I'll rinse muddy legs off when it's in the 50's, upper 50's I'll wash tails.

65+ I'll bath if it's good and sunny out and even then on the low end of that they'll go under a cooler and be watched until dry.

Remember well water (which I'm assuming you're on) hangs out underground - so unless it's been warm out for a while and all the frost is out of the ground the air temp can be acceptable but the water is still literally freezing cold.

Warm water changes things a bit.

I'm in Iowa also.

I don't like to bathe unless it's in the high 60's.

My old gelding loved getting me soaked. So if it was too cold for me to take a water hose bath it was too cold for him lol.

I would do it if you have warm water, a good enclosed barn, and a big enough fleece cooler. I have those things, but the only reason I don't is because it's muddy as all heck out there. It would be pointless to bathe them because they would roll as soon as they get turned out as they do every morning. I do wash their legs, manes, and tails though.

Im kinda laughing here.. as I watched all 4 of mine go lay down in an icy water hole yesterday... only a few inches deep, but had ice on top.. and they rolled in the muddy slush.  It was low 40's and they didnt wear a cooler or go into a heated barn afterwards.

I hose down mine after a ride as long as its plus 10C. Our wash stall is in the barn but it isn't heated. I have hosed off legs in 2-3C but dried them with towels after. I bath when its warm and sunny though. Also, our water is heated.

That's what I was gonna say LOL.
I'll be the odd one out and say go ahead and bathe them at 56 and windy.  Mine will lay in any water/mud hole when it's colder than that so obviously it doesn't bother him.  I had a rodeo a few weeks ago and it was cold that morning but he was caked in mud from head to toe, so he got a bath.  Guess I'm a bad mom... Now my sister has one that will shiver if it's under 70-75 so she only bathes him if he's filthy and puts a cooler on him.

Dump a bucket of warm water over your head and stand out side for 30 minutes are you cold and shivering? If the answer is yes I'd say it is too cold to bathe your horse. If your answer is NO then go ahead bathe away!
