I'm still looking over all my options for supplements for mainaining an ulcer prone horse. Anyone used Oxy-Max? I like that it is a pellet, so my barn can feed it easily and it covers ulcers, joints, and lungs (all 3 are important for my horse). Any info is welcome.

I purchased a huge bucket at the NFR but haven't started it yet.  There are many top barrel racers that are using Oxy-gen.  I thought I would give it a try and see if it makes a difference. There's still a bunch of snow here so I haven't even started riding yet.  My horse had a bad ulcer last year and I'm hoping this will help him out.

Michele Mcloud, Brittany Pozzi and Sherry Cervi feed and endorse oxygen products. I fed exceed 6way forever and when I switched to OxyMax I noticed a huge change! Same grain, same hay only change was the supplement and my horses packed on the muscle mass and look amazing. I love it

I've fed OxyMax for a long time...my horses look great.   I've never seen the Wrights on a horse that wasn't in fabulous condition, their feeding program obviously works well.  Sherry feed it (in addition to quite a few other products).  " I feed Renew Gold and alfalfa hay morning and night. I add oxy-max, Silver Lining Herbs , Bio Vigor liquid minerals, and Formula 1 to my morning grain."

The 2 month supply for 1 horse is $165. The more economical is the 50lb 5 month supply at $299 (breaks down to about $59 per month)

I feed it. I haven't seen it do anything for ulcers, but body conditioning and coat are off the charts.

Ulcers are a tough one, SmartPak GI Ultra has worked better for me in the digestive scheme of things.

Glad to read this. My horse is currently on Smart Gut and when I add the Oxy-Max I'm keeping him on the Smart Gut. Never taking that out of my feed program!

Word man....and we fed it for 6 months to a horse never saw a difference. Had owners drop horses off that were on it and there was a miscommunication about them getting more to us so the horse was off it for 4 months and there was absolutely no change. He started looking better but we were giving him alfalfa and his owner was not.

Geesh I had just about ruled that out because I haven't heard many positive reviews (outside of Smartpak's website). I'm so lost there's too many options! I don't even think he's *that* ulcer prone because he's not a spooky, high strung horse in the least, he just got hit with a whole lot of crap since August (1000 mile trailer ride to a new home/owners, strangles, extreme hoof abscess, and wasn't getting as much hay as he is supposed to). I think any horse would be at high risk of developing ulcers at that point.

There was a study done on horses that were treated with SmartGut after GastroGard. My vet also recommended the product. I'm am not good at details - I just keep retain little bits here and there. LOL!  It showed a reduction in the recurrance of ulcers. Not a cure, but a reduction - so I'm not changing plus we don't have alfalfa hay up here, so I supplement with cubes.

Well I'm glad it's worked for you! I actually did get a month's worth of the one that's a combo of smartgut ultra and smart digest ultra. It was $100 so more expensive than I can stick with, but I got it to start while I do his omeprazole treatment.

It is VERY expensive I do agree with you on that. I have my open horse on the Smart Gut and the other horse with Cushings on Smart Digest. Both products you get the Colic Insurance but it really hurts the wallet, but I do like the results so far. Good luck to you!
