Location: WV | Ok, I tried a helmet on today sm was too tight medium was better but was not the brand I want. That was a troxel and I want a Tipperary Sportage. Should they fun close in size? I have to order by mail and just trying to get close to what I need. Also, should my head bottom out?

Location: Where Tall Corn Grows | Tipperary has a sizing chart. They run pretty true to their chart. I like the Tipperary far better than Troxel.

| Smartpak has a couple of videos on how to fit a helmet, look under the Charles Owen ARY8, even though it is fitting a VO helmet, the same fit principles will apply. You want a helmet to be snug, but not tight, you don't want it loose either. |

Location: NC | SmartPak has a return policy. You can buy, try & return if needed.
I have a large tipperary and it fits pretty well. They have two different size back pads plus small pads you can place wherever and however you want.
I find it runs true to size as far as sizing goes. I wear a size 7 hat comfortably (I flipped the band down to run).
ETA: The Tipperary is designed to sit lower on your head than most other brands/styles. Just remember that when looking/trying!

Location: Illinois | I wear a large in the Tipperary Sportage but a Medium in the Troxel Liberty. Like them both but like the fit of the Tipperary better. Ordered based on my hat size and fit great! |

| I just went from a Tipperary to a troxel, I can check tomorrow afternoon and let you know. I switched because the troxel is more comfortable for me, thats all |

Location: North MS | It just so happens Amazon sent me the wrong Tipperary Sportage Carbon Fiber helmet in Medium and I ordered a LARGE! Sadly I didn't open it until the day of the show I needed it for. I also wear a large in Troxel so I believe the sizing is true. When I tried the helmet on I was thinking- dang I know my head isn't THAT big. I knew I had ordered a large. I got to looking at the box and had gotten a medium. Then in order to exchange it I have to send it back at MY cost for a mistake I didn't make. Rediculous. But I still have the darn thing boxed back up as of now. Might contact amazon and raise a small fuss since I shouldn't have to pay the shipping back to them. Gorgeous helmet though. I'm definitely getting one the correct size. |

Location: WV | I just watched a couple of videos and I'm torn. I measure right at the large but afraid it might be too big. It never mentioned on what size to get if u go up or down when your right on the line between sizes.

| If you are right on the line my preference is down...padding compacts over time and if you up it will be too loose.

| I have a troxel intrepid, and it's amazing. Love it, stays out of my eyes and is very light. I fell under a running horse and it barely had a scratch on it. I love the carbon color.

| I tried a Tipperary and didn't care for it. I bought an Ovation and it fits great. They make a small-medium that's great for heads like ours that are smaller. |

Location: n.c. | I'll second the ovation. I've been trying helmets on and so far this is the one that fits all the way around. Not just front and back. |

| The Troxel Capriole Helmet has a dial adjustment - the GPS II™ Dial Fit System. I'd give it a try. |

| I checked and both my old Tipperary sportage and new troxel intrepid are larges.
The dial fit systems seem great until the dial breaks. Had 2 in a row do that within months of purchase.

Location: North Dakota | Troxel doesn't fit my head so I don't have any of those.
My current Tippery Sportage actually didn't have a size labeled. I bought it in a store when I briefly lived in Arizona so I tried it on there.
I wanted another one for another color choice and I measured my head and ordered a SMALL for the Tippery Sportage. When it arrived, I did have to replace the thicker padding in the back for the thinner one, but then it fit like a charm. So I'd say they run pretty true to size of the measurements that they list.
I just happen to have a really small head. For goodness sake, I purchased a Youth Large snowboarding helmet for myself this year, and it fits perfect!
