Hi All,

I am starting my look for a new saddle, I am open on the brand.

Looking for something with a deeper seat that will help me sit, but will allow me to get up and out coming out of the turn. I run a free runner who is more front endy. I tend to get left behind and then pull.

I tried a Double J pro standard and it is tight through her shoulders but not extremely. Was thinking a Pozzi but hear the tree is the same size as the pro.

Thank you

If you like the double j saddles try a wide.

Martha Joey saddles will sit you deep

Martin fx3 will sit you deep and come in any gullet size (pro and con)

Lisa Lockhart wide tree it is a nice saddle to ride in

I have heard that too but since I have both I have to disagree. The pro has a different gullet size and has more shoulder flair. A std pozzi did not fit my colt well at all, fell down in the front. The pro is actually a tad wider but fits him perfect. He's racey built. I will say the pro will fit about anything! I also have a pozzi wide which is a hair wider than the pro and doesn't have near the flair to it. I have some good pics to show the difference.

I just bought a Tammy Fischer, also have a pro rider, I love my pro riders but I bought treeless because I ride so many different horses. Took some getting used to but I LOVE the treeless and the newer ones keep your feet forward!

I just recently bought a Kelly Kaminski Flex tree Circle Y studded croc. It is the nicest saddle I've ever run in. The stirrups can be pulled forward to keep your legs in front of you. This helps me sit down. Plus, its about half the price of many of the other saddles. Mine has a memory foam seat and is lined underneath with impact gel instead of wool. I absolutely LOVE this saddle.

Check out the Martins new BTR saddles, they are new.. Thinking about getting one. I was just peddling one day at our tack store and one caught my eye, sat in it and really liked how it felt, love that they have the forward hung stirrups.

My absolute favorite saddle is my Circle Y Kelly Kaminski. Deep memory foam seat, flex tree, etc. I have the wide tree. I hated the marlene mcrae by cactus.

I have found 2 barrel saddle brands that I really love.

1. Double J Pozzi Pro -WIDE Tree
2. Triple Creek

I went through around 10 brands last year trying to find what worked for my horses and I and this is what I came up with.

If you get a Josey I think you would be happier with ye regular tree. I had one fitted to a really thick mare. Sold her and use it on my paint hose and he is massive. Fits fine. (Horse in avatar)

Performance saddle company is my all time favorite, simular to a Caldwell but not quite as pricey and great customer service.  I just got a Shiloh Contender to use as a second saddle and Im really liking it also.

I feel your pain... There are so many to choose from. I cannot decide between the BTR and Jeff Smith. I have learned that there are not many BTR's available right now because they all went to Vegas. Martin had one in a 14.5, but of course, I didnt like it and it will be Jan/Feb before they will have more available. I really like the Jeff Smith but every time I get ready to order it, something stops me.

I don't know what your price range is, but you should check out Green Custom Saddlery FB page.

The saddles that I really like and have are the Double J's Pozzis, I have one with the 10# tree and a wide, Martin Crown C, A Caldwell pro max is my favorite, I have other brands as well, but the ones I listed have a deeper seat to them well, so does my Bob Marshall..

I really liked running in my Tami Semas but they do run a little big in the seat. I'm trying to sell my current one so I can get a smaller seat.
