Location: TN | I’m sure this subject has been beat to death like so many others. I did a search on past posts but didn’t really find one that covered what I’m looking for exactly. I currently have a Cactus brand saddle that I really like and worked well with the last horse I had. However, it doesn’t seem to be working for me with my new horse. It fits HER fine but I feel like a rag doll being thrown around in it. The last horse I rode with it I had a magic seat I used and I’m sure that’s why I didn’t feel thrown around in it. I was toying with the idea of a treeless but I’ve seen and heard so many mixed reviews about whether or not they cause a horse back pain, that I’m afraid to go that route. Then I got to looking at the Just B Natural saddles and I like the looks of them but I literally know nothing about them nor do I know anyone who rides in one. The double j’s Look like they have a nice deep seat but sadly I have no children so I cannot offer my first born to trade ??????? However, I’d still like to hear thoughts on the subject so if you think double js are a better route to take feel free to suggest it! I’m not above digging around the internet for a good deal on one of those or any other high end brand. Thanks in advance guys! ?? |

Editing my post: About Circle Y saddles, the older saddles I dont have a problem with them like from early 2000's on down they are built nice and solid, I used to ride in them I loved my Martha Joseys they were so nice but the company has been sold a few times since my last Circle Y saddle and the quality of the leather and craftmanship and trees just are not there anymore, very cheaply made for the money they are asking for them..I wish I could find my Martha Josey I had custom made from Circle Y that I sold a few years back, it was a awesome saddle but a older model..

I’ll be the odd man out. My first barrel saddle was a Circle Y Proven. It was what I could afford at the time. Is it on the same level as a Caldwell, no but it’s a lot better than some of those junk entry level brands. Plus it’s super comfortable, has a deep seat and has held up well to abuse. |

My double j was perfect on one of my horses but when I tried it on my other, it fit, but I felt like I couldn’t really ride her in it. My shiloh contender fit her as well with a slight pad adjustment and I feel better seated and more balanced. |

Location: Somewhere around here | I just sold my Cactus saddle yesterday. Nice saddle, but boy did it feel like I was riding a roping saddle instead! I'll be there first one to say it, I suggest treeless. But you gotta find which one works best for you and your horse, just like any treed saddle. It took me 3 tries to find the perfect one for me and my horse, but it's worth it. I think it COULD sore a horses back, but you can improve it not happening by being a balanced rider, not having extra weight on your body, and having the correct saddle pad (that part has MANY different standpoints though). From my experience within the past 3 months, my horse was ok with his topline but when I rode in a treeless for 2 months straight his topline got a whole lot better! Rode in a treed saddle for two rides and it's just not the same.

Guess im on the odd train too. I used to have a billy cook and traded for the Circle Y Proven that i have now and i love it, fits everything i put it on and Its super comfy, has a deep seat and really keeps me in the saddle. Its held up wondfully to my daily wear and tear on it. Id buy another one in a heartbeat and they are super affordable! |

| I love my C3, but they are pricey even used. The double j’s seem to be a love them or hate them - I didn’t hate my pozzi but my c3 rides a lot better.
I also have a circle y nbha that I keep around because I have a little bit of nothing invested in it and it’s a solid extra saddle, although it doesn’t fit my broad short backed thick colt at all. |

Location: Feeding mosquitos, FL | The Just B Natural is deeeeeeep. I call it my "sit your butt down" saddle cause you really have very little choice in the matter.
It's comfortable, it rides well. The leather is cheap. It's definitely not the quality of some of the other saddles out there but it does the job. I've had mine about a year, ride hard, and its holding up better than I thought it would. |

Location: Tennessee | I love my Shallow Creek saddle so much I had one custom made. Very deep seat and very well balanced. I had taken the winter off from riding due to no daylight after my work day and am just starting to ride back. These saddles are not put a hurting on me like other saddles have when trying to get back into shape. |

I have two. I REALLY love them. They are very balanced. No pitch. Fit a wide variety of horses. |

Agreed, it's the deepest seat I've ever been in! Too deep for me though. |

| We rode Pozzi's for a while and I always felt secure enough in it to ride my catty gelding two handed around a turn, even when he'd make his move on the back side. I rode a Teskey on him for a while and he easily left me on the back side if I wasn't using the horn. However, I've switched my new mare to a Roohide and I'm absolutely in love with it. Nice deep seat, rides like a cutter, but I by no means feel like it's too deep. I can get up and ride or sit deep. Love it! They are pricey, even for the stripped down "Wrangler" model, and finding a used one is near impossible. We still have one mare we ride in a Pozzi because my Roohide doesn't fit and there's no comparison between the two. |
