They are wonderful. I bred 5 different driftwood mares to him & kept the first one I had. Slyder is amazing. I have a 2 yr old filly by slick & out of a daughter of dinero. She is going to make one heck of a barrel horse. Slicks are very athletic & smart. Easy to teach. ETA, This is Cindy. LR Shes A Slick Gift

I haven't seen any bloodlines that he doesnt cross well with.  Look back at some of the big futurity results and check the dams.

I have a AA daughter of Royal Shake Em who will be foaling a Slick baby next month.  She has outproduced herself.  I am keeping her Dinero filly.  She is gray but is black based and her foaling record shows no grays so I do expect her to foal a black Slick.... she has had more fillies than stud colts.  The foal will be for sale.

A friend of mine had one that was Schizophrenic, and was out of a DTF mare. Definitely not a safe horse to be around. That's the only one I've been around.

People seem to forget that " as my dad would say", it takes 2 to tango. If this horse was a skitzo like you say, it could of been the mare. Everyone rushes out to say it's the stallions fault if one doesn't like the breeding. Genetics are an interesting thing. People need to quit blaming a stallion all the time & look at the mare. Some cross's just don't work out. No one's fault, that just happens.

All this that Mary said.

I have known people that breed their goofy butt mare, because she's a nut case and their thinking is that if they breed her she will settle down, with results of a baby that grows up to be like mama, a goofy butt off spring. And like Mary said some cross's just dont work.

Speaking of DTF offspring, what kind of 'quirks' do they have?  I read alot of messages referring to the DTF quirks.

I have a DTF granddaughter that will run you flat and step on you going thru a gate. She can be flighty on ground as well as outside the arena or walking her around at home. But the minute you walk into the arena she is all business. All of the flighty stuff vanishes.  I have an Epic yearling colt from her that is just the opposite. Hes laid back easy going and nothing bothers him.

As a long term breeder, the mare is 80% of the foal you get.   That is why on a sales catalog page there is just a little blip about the stallion at the top under the pedigree lines and the bottom two thirds of the page is the mare, 2nd dam and produce, 3rd dam and produce, etc.

Love, love mine. Did I mention I LOVE mine??? He's out of a daughter of Ninety Nine Goldmine. She can be spooky and he is so smart and level headed but has enough feel too.

I have had quite a few DTF daughters... LOVE them. They all seem to love water and can't keep them out of the water tanks.

I have one mare that can be a little nervous to handle but no more so than other mares I've had that went from being on the track to being a broodmare.

I love my DTF mares, I would take a whole pasture full.

I have had 2 Slick fillies, 1 out of a DTF daughter and 1 out of a FG daughter. They're both very similar not only in looks but also personality. Easy going, trainable and patient.

The Slick x FG filly is consigned to the Ruby Buckle sale next month and I've been swimming her and ponying her to get her in shape. She's really been one of the easiest I've ever dealt with. Makes my life much easier.
