eta: the tilt appears because of the scar tissue that was laid down to "fix" the tear.  Sometimes it can be a large enough tilt to look like a true hunters bump, and sometimes it can be minimal, resulting in just a slight twist or tilt to the pelvis.  

Just my first thought is all- 

 

My gelding fell 4 years ago and tore his SI ligament, he now needs to see the chiro regularly because his pelvis rotates. He still tries to work, he just gets really rough in his turns and he is usually very smooth. Thats how I know he needs it done. Or if he slips really bad running then I get it done because chances are it rotated again.

Hey guys!! So I have been to the moon and back it feels like with this boy. I took him to a specialist who narrowed down his lameness steps (which was really hard to see that my local vet didn't even see it) to a ligament in the hock area. The bursa around the ligament would cause inflammation and soreness, we injected but it only lasted for a very short time so we went ahead and did the surgery, now that the ligament has been cut, he should have absolutely no problems with that. We are hoping that this is where a lot of his pain issues lie. If he is still not comfortable then we will move on and up. She believes with his confirmation, he will just be one who needs chiro'ed regularly. Yes he is slightly tilted in the pelvis but she believes with the right chiropractic schedule and exercise that is should not cause much of an issue. I do give him bute a few days before a run just to help keep any inflammation down.
So that's where I am now lol..he is still healing from surgery, should have already been legging him back up but unfortunately and of course our luck, he got an infection. So things are going slower than usual, but in his case, this may be a good thing.
