Its not much you can pull that you need to worry about.  Its how much it can stop. 

This here is 'it' in a nutshell! They (2500)s can pull much much more than they can stop!

I pull a three horse alum. slant with LQ with a 3/4 ton Ford diesel 4x4 and have never had any problems. However, it is only 5 ft on the short wall and I usually only haul 2 horses. Just check the weight the truck . As a previous poster said, often safe stopping is the issue. Good luck
