I would call the people who you purchased the horse from and ask them if the horse behaved like this. Ask what they fed. You mentioned you got this horse for a bargain. His behavior could very well be the reason.

I think you are doing great and learning tons. It is very hard not keeping them in your back yard but you also have advantages. Is there anyway he can be boarded outside. Like a paddock and shed? Really this would be ideal. Can u get a couple opinions on your saddle and pad fit. I cant imagine that he should need so much chiro and massage work. Good for you for working through this and learning. Life will be easier now that spring is here.

I didnt see your original post. But do u trail ride him at all? horses need relaxing rides also not just constant schooling and working. Just like us people we need down time. Trail riding will allow u to ride him and let him be able to be a horse and see different scenery and not to have to per say "work". It helps the horses mind also. All work and no play or relaxing can make them stir crazy also

YESSS. I go on trails in the pasture all the time. he loves it! he even followed a butterfly for 2 miles...hahahaha
