I really don't think it's the shampoo...I only bathed him twice so far, Friday and yesterday-I just thought that might help keep the rain rot controlled.  Now I will just make due to hose him every evening to wash off the sweat, no soap.
He's on a fat sup also, Cool Calories. I didn't mention it bc I haven't really noticed a difference so I wasn't planning on purchasing another bag when it's gone.
He doesn't have access to the loose minerals, I will look into that. I'm going to check into all the different sups y'all have all mentioned as well.
I got to ride yesterday evening and I can tell he feels better, so much better I'm going to cut back on the Red Cell lol. For a while there I didn't think that was helping.
Thank yall, hopefully he starts looking better soon.

Cool Calories is the only weight supplement we will use. Try doubling the dose if you aren't seeing a change. You can't make them hot on it and my barrel/halter horse gets 3x the serving when trying to beef her up really big for halter shows. It really gets her looking great. My other horses just get the regular dose and they have all looked great on it too.

oija - 2015-06-30 11:34 PM Up the fat in his diet and worm him again too. I'd try to wean him off the shampoo and keep him on the ulcer meds. Maybe add Forco.
Yes I noticed a little tail rubbing yesterday and plan on worming. I just wormed them about 2 weeks ago but idk when my new one was wormed last-he'd been turned out. And it had been a while on T-Bo also. I used Zimecterin Gold, what would y'all suggest this time?

For the skinny horses I have gotten, I try and keep the feed simple and less processed.

I will feed a complete feed that is concentrated, I used buckeye grow and win, it has high protein, low starch. It doesn't have enough fat content, so I add 1/4 cup of flax increasing to 1/2 cup daily, whole flax is cheap.

If I need more calories, I will add a cup or two of whole oats as well.

If the horse has been stressed, I will give a month of probiotics to get the internal system working.

My philosophy is you can give all the feed in the world, if they cannot break it down and absorb it, they will not gain weight and you are wasting your money.

Probiotics help break the food down.

I also give papaya puréed as it has benefits for ulcer prone horses, plus it tastes good and gets my horses to eat everything
