When I decided to lose weight, I jump started things by doing the Whole 30 diet for a month. It sucks for the first few days, but it will change your taste buds and make you quit craving sweets. I ended up losing 20 pounds. The biggest things you can do are 1) don't drink your calories 2) cut out most carbs and sugars 3) stay active. What works for me is not even buying unhealthy foods and making sure I always have a snack on hand. If you let yourself get too hungry, you're more likely to binge on junk food.

Can we also talk about how in most cases (BUT NOT ALL) your upper tier barrel racers are leaner built. Some natually and some work hard for it. Those girls ride so well, and I bet being healthy, strong and fit are attributes to that.

Oh absolutely. I ran 2D when I was hitting the gym 5 days a week and eating better. Went back to the 3D, usually 4D when i gained weight. Same horse, his ability neevr changed. I just couldn't ride him like he needed anymore.

I have 80lbs to go still. I was drinking around two 2L of diet dr pepper daily and cut back to just 8oz a day. Lost 9lbs over the span of around 3 months, probably would've been more but it was right in the middle of a busy time where all I had time to eat was fast food on the way to work and home. Now I've started cooking my own food or sometimes just pop in a frozen Lean Cuisine if I'm in a pinch. Started running again & adding in strength training. I think thats the biggest thing, the strength training mixed with eating the right things. Carbs fuel your muscles, I just try to limit the starchy carbs and eat more veggie/fruit types. I lost 70lbs years ago just being more aware of my food and starting a workout regimen. Trying to get back to it. Best of luck with your last few lbs!

I was stupid when I was younger & always felt like I needed to lose 10#, so would go on a diet.  I bet I have been on dang near every diet out there, at one time or another.  I'd always gain that 10 back eventually & then lose it again ... then it increased to 15, then 20, & all I ever did manage was to screw my metabolism up completely!!  FIVE POUNDS???  Good grief!  exercise a little more & tone if you are SURE you are "over".  I look back at pictures of myself from back in those days & wonder WTH was wrong with me??  I looked great!  Now in my 50's & I do have weight issues and it is harder than hell to lose.  Weightwatchers is what's working now, but it is SLOW - even with lots of pounds to lose, I am lucky to lose a lb a week.

I hear ya.  The only way I could loose weight back In The day was to run or stair stepper. I have problems that prevent that now so I stay fat.  Dieting without exercise has never worked for me
