Definitely prayers.   Not trying to pick at straws, but the video said a total of 7 horses...but typos do happen. It really is sad, and I hope that the remaining 5 horses fully recover.

there was 8 horses, 2 dies, 5 went to the hospital and 1 was able to go to its stable

They flipped the numbers.  Later said it was 7 horses in an 8 horse trailer.

cranky B4 10am - 2014-03-29 7:22 PM So sorry about this happening. Not being there we can't really judge if the driver was at fault. He didn't get fined so the police obviously didn't think he was at fault.Β

But there is something to say for trusting the GPS too much. I know a bunch of long haul truckers, and they will map out the route before leaving. (Also to know where gas stations are, but also to "see" the road before getting there. We all know GPS is not perfect.

Also, they one line that states he had 8 horses on there is not repeated in the rest of the story. And they are talking about 2 dead and 5 who were transported to the vet. So maybe he didn't have 8 on there.

Anyway, I feel for the owners of the horses. And lets hope they will finally put up more signs on that (and other dangerous) roads.

Just a sad deal al around.
I noticed that two. They said one was dead on scene, one euthanized, and 5 transported to vet clinic. So I dont know about the 8 in a 7 horse issue. They also reported he used his GPS that took him there and I know mine has done this to me. Living in MN my GPS took me in the middle of winter down a minimum maintenance road, meaning not plowed. Luckily I made it because when I turned onto it, it was dark and I had to either go forward for surely get stuck. Prayers for the owners and for the driver.

if so thenΒ  my apologies.we dont know. and I also wasnt being nasty to him but it does make me angry if they overload trailers to make $$ ...professionals know better.. im sure hes shook up and deeply sorry..Β Β

I have to point out that when I got my mare and 3 month old foal there were 5 and a 1/2 I'll call it on that 5 horse trailer. The foal was tucked along with mom in the end stall where the tack compartment would be (it was collapsed). The other stalls were all full too. I don't know the breakdown of horses but it's always an option, we are in the middle of foaling season.

Lots of prayers to everyone involved.

This guy is an idiot. He had to be driving way too **** fast. And he obviously doesn't have a clue about pulling a trailer. He didnt swing wide enough and curbed the trailer hard enough to kill a horse on impact. I think he and the company he is driving for are negligent.
