There is a demand for nurses and the nurses that I know have the best rigs in the parking lot. (They make good money)

They aren't paid as well as people think.

Clearly you have not seen my rig. :) it took me forever and loans out the butt to buy my just barely decent pick-up and little living quarter trailer. We get paid a decent wage but we also have to work 13 hour days , weekends , holidays and all other days in between. We have tons of continuing education to do and most is on our dime..byes it might seem like we get paid a decent wage but would you want someone making 6.00 an hour to he there when your baby is born before the doctor gets there or when your loved one comes in not breathing and the nurse is the one that starts CPR and gives him the real life saving medications.just wanted to remind you we are responsible for a lot of lives .

I became an RN because I needed to support my horse habit. ?? I have my ADN (i also have a bachelors in science of education) and it took me two years. Which flew by! I was 24 when i went. I also got my LPN after the first year so i could start making a little more money and get nursing experience I could use when i got my RN. I have mostly worked in dialysis but have also done private in home care and worked in a family practice clinic. Ive never done hospital beause i like having nights and weekends off. I did sign on with a travel company and did one assignment as a travel nurse in dialysis. I worked 13 weeks, got paid every week making well over $1000 a week after being heavily taxed sometimes close to $2000 weekly depending on hours and call back I also, got a completion bonus and every hour i worked earned points that could be saved up and used to buy all kinds of things from the companys online store. While i have taken a stable, permanent job close to home, my plan is do go back to travel nursing in dialysis when I want to go more with my horses.i made twice the money in half the time. It would be awesome to work only 6 months a year and maybe do an assignment in arizona during the winter. Take my horses, run barrels, and still be able to support myself while enjoying a warmer winter :)

Sounds like you have it going on. I have the greatest respect for nurses. They are overloaded but somehow manage to get everyone taken care of. There are several nurses that I ride with that I would trust my life with and have often been an asset at a barrel race. One time a girl landed on the back of her neck. I was the first person to her then the second person was a nurse practitioner. I told her it was all hers. She has the lady stabilized and ready to roll when the ambulance go there.
