Common Sense and then some
Location: So. California
Fresh, fresh, fresh! You can make so many amazing dishes out of fresh foods and a few spices. I lost over 50lbs by taking prepackaged foods out of my diet. Nothing in a bag, box or can.
There are some amazing vegetarian bread recipies on line, makes your mouth just water with all the flavor. REAL butter. No margarine. Change to cooking with olive oil...
What also helped me was that I had cheat night. I could cheat
(a little
) once/twice a week on those nights - for example 1 scoop of ice cream. Just one... It didn't fill like a diet.
Also, portion control is important. Snack foods throughout the day helps wonders. It keeps you full.

Long time off and on low carber. Cauliflower makes a very good substitute for potatoes, especially mashed. Sweet potatoes are a good option. Sautéed avocado in bacon grease with fried eggs brings Joy to my heart, lol. I'm a condiment junkie so I really missed BBQ sauce. Finally found G Hubbs brand and the hickory is my fave.
Uuuhhh I just consumed my first plate of fried avocado and eggs....
It will not be my last....omg...

Ok, here's a LC dessert that I like to eat. I just have to be super careful cause I start off eating it once or twice a week, then ever night lol. Mix a serving of no sugar added peanut butter with WALDEN FARMS chocolate syrup. Top with cool whip. It's less than 5 net carbs and REALLY helps take the edge off a sweet tooth.
Also, hard boiled eggs are a good quick snack I keep on hand
I also use protein shake mixes alot. Right now I sell thrive, so I will drink that for breakfast mixed with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. I'm not a huge breakfast eater so those really work for me.

So when I was 24 or so, I lost 60 lbs doing Atkins and Tae bo. The weight fell off and I felt amazing. I maintained for 5 years or so. Then went from riding 8 colts a day for a living to a full time desk job and full access to sweet treats and lots of food at work. When my.mom died last january, I was the the heaviest I've ever been.
So I've been on and off again LC since and working out semi consistently and I've dropped 30 lbs in a year.
Most importantly, my blood sugars are perfect. Both my parents were diagnosed at my age with diabetes. So it's a BIG deal. I attribute it to LC eating. Even if I fall off the wagon occasionally.
