They sell it in Bismarck at Western Unlimited if you want to go local. Rhonda has both small and large tubs available (as long as it's in stock).

Kind of sounds like he is missing some amino acids in his diet. No, they just get some sort of mix of grass hay. I have no control over that because it's supplied by the barn over the winter. Once the grass grows in, they get no supplemental hay. The best I could do on alfalfa is mixing a small amount of alfalfa pellets into his grain when I'm there. I am strongly leaning towards a loose mineral that he can just have free choice of, since there are days that I can't get to the barn, if he needs a bit more one day, and a bit less the other, he can replenish himself as his body needs. I don't have a big budget either. Hubby needs a new vehicle and I can only budget so much towards the horse. His board and farrier went up in price a few months ago, so that's taken a chunk out of it. Platinum Performance and the like are way out of the question. Platinum Performance (the regular) ends up being less than $1 per day. The initial cost seems high but in actual use is is not. I feed my performance horse one scoop a day. A 17.5 pound container last about 3 months. Agreed!!! The regular PP has done wonders for my crew - yes just 1 scoop a day and if you think you can't make it the next day then just give 2 scoops.

My only concern is if he would be able to get enough just licking it when I'm there grooming him or whatever. I can't put anything out in his pasture, so he would only have access to a lick for on average, 30 minutes/day.

Not sure is Western Unlimited carries the loose form, if not Lisa Davidson from Mandan sells it.
