So what are some other signs of ulcers? He's a great eater and not cranky. He yawns a lot even when I'm not on him. I can watch him out in pasture and he's yawning. He's very laid back. Not a worrier at all. He's not a bucker but I loped him around pattern and he bucked with me 2 different times. Once last wk and once today. I'm planning on taking him to the vet to get a scope. Open to any suggestions until I can get an appt. Does it hurt to give ulcer medicine even though he might not have ulcers? I also put him on plat perf CJ about 10 days ago. Thanks for any replies!

My vet told me yawning is a sign of colic, so that could be one, he could have a belly ache.

Not to scare you how I learned that was knew my yearling was colicing as she was flat out one day, wanted to roll, had good gut sounds got to the vet she was constantly yawning, and he said that was a bad sign, she never made it home. She colic'd due to being stung by a 1000 bees the day prior, we gave her Benadryl and banamine for the swelling as per vet, and she still colic'd.

Being a little cinchy, pinning ears when saddling, flinching or skin twitching when you touch the girth area. Not picking up the left lead. These are some of the signs, a dull coat, not shedding out.

He had colic surg last year. Hasn't colic since surgery. I keep fingers crossed everyday. He never gives me problems saddling. Doesn't get agitated. But thanks for suggestions.

I have one horse that always sheds later that the others. He has been on Platinum CJ for at least 3 years. He was treated for ulcers years ago but is fine now. When he had ulcers he was probably slicker than he is now. He was a bone when he had ulcers and is still kind of a hard keeper. This horse is on thyroid medicine and has been for about 5 years now. It could easily be an endocrine system problem. I had to ASK the vet to do a thyroid test back then. He just sheds much later than the others.

If looking for an omeprazole pharmaceutical product for ulcers that is LAB proven for potency and stability please check out www.equinerxsolutions.com, an advertiser on BHW. We also compound a fenbendazole 5 day power pak and ivermectin with and without praziquantel. I believe with the days getting longer (more sun/even if colder than average temps), most horses should be shedding by now, unless ulcers/worms/endocrine is the cause.
