Schools all cancelled, roads are flooded, and we can't leave our place because the bayou is over our driveway and it's DEEP. Our house and barn are high and dry, thankfully, although half the pasture is now part of the pond and there were ducks swimming behind the house. I've lived here my whole life and seen flooding before, but this is the worst I've experienced. The weather peeps predicted 3-5" for us...didn't realize I needed to make a milk, and horse and dog feed run. I just hope our driveway doesn't wash out and leave us stranded here for an extended period. We built it in 2009 and it's never been close to going under before now. My parents' house flooded tonight. My barn had 10 inches of water in it flowing like a small river at 8 this am. One horse standing in water but he's gonna be boated out this morning. The other four are on the pond levees thank goodness. Water over the dually headlights by my house. Got some friends that are going to boat in this morning to help my bf feed and move Lynn out of the water. I've lived on this road since 1977 and have never seen anything like it. My parents are just distraught, but I am trying to keep my chin up and remind them that it's just a house and can be fixed and/or replaced. Thank God no one hurt or worse. Prayers for everyone affected by this and for it to clear out quickly and recede even quicker. . .
Prayers for your parents. Flooding is not fun. But, as you said, it can all be replaced. Been there. | |

Apparently the water comes up quickly and with little warning. My friends in S Bossier were able to get their horses out with help from the LA National Guard. A man said this morning on the news that he had evacuated to a hotel at LA Downs and the hotel had to be evacuated. I think everything is flooded in Haughton. All of my property is on a really high hill so I am good but many prayers to all in this weather. | |

Oh no! Hope everything goes well getting your horse moved. I'm praying for those who are dealing with displacement and damage. We are very fortunate in that respect. My parents were able to get to town yesterday, just had to take the scenic tour, and are dropping supplies for us out on the road...we have to walk through the water to get the stuff. My husband and son were catching fish on our driveway last night. Lemons into lemonade. LOL. There were some BIG catfish and grennel swimming across there and I got a video of one. Apparently, there is an epidemic of snakebites from snakes seeking higher ground. I'm just waiting on the **** gators to show up in my yard... 
We had almost 15 inches in the gauge yesterday, and it's raining again this morning. Looks worse the further south you go. I heard 20" for Monroe last night and the radar looks heavy down there this morning. What's up with 3 100 year floods in less than a year? July 5, Christmas, now. (Although this one is way worse, does it qualify for a 500 year flood?). There are people who just finished repairs from the Christmas flood and now they're flooded out again. I would want to move. | |

They got everyone fed this am and Lynn is in the round pen here at my house. He's a little nervous but fine. The water was almost to his belly when they got him out, so it was none too early. My parents' house seems to have less than 2 inches in it so if no more rain and no more rise, we are blessed. They got her car out (less than a year old) today and no water in it, so again, a blessing. We have so much happening right now in our lives all prayers are needed and appreciated. . . . | |
