Three 4 Luck - 2014-07-22 8:31 PM On the flip side, my old trailer was notorious for dumping saddles off nose first and I've had my share of dented and skinned up horns because of it. Never has one come apart like that.
Right! I've seen many saddles set on the ground, dropped and even flipped over on and still the horn in one piece. I think a saddle should survive a few scuff marks!

Thats why I was asking if you sent pictures to Double J and let them see what has happen to this saddle. I bet they would have fixed it for you at no charge.

I had one to break just like that on my Martin Barrel Racer back a few years ago. They let me send it back and repaired it for free! It happened at the last turn of a pole run. I ran out and looked and the cap was up just like yours. Saddle was kept in trailer, never touched the ground (only a few months old), never fell off the rack.

One thing to consider, is many saddle makers to not covered saddles that have been re-sold. Some companies only cover under the original owner and it is voided when sold. I sent mine back to them after 4 years of use to have them check it over, replace crystals and billets. It was returned in like new condition and shipping and labor it was $300.00 (shipping alone was $80). Sorry you had a bad experience.

My Double J's horn did the same thing. I lay my hand on the horn palm down to hang on in the turn. My horn cap popped like that. In the process of getting it fixed found out the tree was broke in it. Called Double J, they were great to deal with. Since I wasn't original owner, it wasn't covered. I sent it back and they redid the tree and horn. I had them wrap my leather horn with a rawhide. I am tough on a horn. My saddle came back with all new leather and looked Brand New. Saddle companies will only do warrenty work under the original owner, If you had known that, could have had your friend who sold you the saddle send it back.

No matter who makes the saddle I would ticked if my horn did that especially if it was that new of a saddle. After years of abuse I can see it, but that's not ok in my opinion. Even though Double J is a larger company they should still back up their work. IMO only.

Double J WILL fix defects in a saddle even if you were not the original owner, depending on exactly what the issue is.

I purchased a used LM.  I had already owned several.  Every horse I put it on bucked with it.  So I sent the saddle to them to have it inspected.  Turned out to be a piece of rawhide or something under the fleece that was twisted/turned and was digging into their backs.  Don't qoute me on that though because I never really understood what was wrong with it.  All I know is that they fixed it for free and I never had a problem with it after that.

I bet they would have fixed it if she would have giving them a chance to see what was going on if it were their fault. Thats why I have asked if they saw the pictures of it, but to me the horn was a bit scuffed up too.
