Ugh I bought the video so I could study it and it just hurts to watch it. This poor mare. I hope I figure all this out because with all the things they found that day... she didn't do anything bad warming up, didn't refuse the alley, cleans up her feed every day.. the only time she says it hurts is when she makes a bad run.. but half the time, she makes GOOD runs in-between. gah.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BStArLemeUU

So is the head shaking related to just the simple fact that she is in pain?

If you can get her feeling good, you would have taken ATLEAST a second off that run... This mare is so fast and her 2nd & 3rd were still smoking. I can't wait to see what you accomplish with her once you get everything figured out.

she's been a head shaker as long as she's been ridden. When I bought her I was told about it, and the 2nd previous owner said she could never fix her of it. I noticed when I bought her... When I started getting her hocks done she would have runs where she didn't shake her head. I am hoping now that we found an issue with her back and have addressed it, I can get more runs where she doesn't shake.

Here is a video of a GOOD Bunny run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hz-CJwWnmB0
We won this one by 4 tenths, and although we don't officially keep arena records, there's never been another 14.4 on those stakes.

Boy can I relate! I call it the 2 month curse. I've purchased 2 horses in the last 3 years and something goes horribly wrong with every one in the first 2 months. One went lame in her stifle region and never got better. After chiro, massage, injections, etc. I finally gave up. Another came up mysteriously lame in his front end for NO REASON. We put wedge pads on him after x-rays ruled out any definite signs of navicular and injections didn't do anything. He was still off and on but now has something wrong in his hind end! It *may* be just an abscess but we haven't been able to find anything definitive. Then there's my other poor guy, a few weeks after bring him home he got strangles, then a hoof abscess popped up which lasted 2 months and the vet had to dig out part of his hoof, then he started having back issues. I'm waiting on bloodwork but actually think it might be ulcers.

So yeah...I have  total sympathy for you! It just never seems to end and all I want to do is RIDE my horses!

I want you to promise me next year before Diamonds and Dirt you get her checked.  She deserves one of her good runs at this race.  Don't beat yourself up we are all human and can't know everything.

Well I definitely want to get her to a big race in the recent future now that I have had her worked on. We bombed the American Qualifier because she was sore, even though I DID have her checked... bombed D&D because I thought she was alright.. gosh. I need to find a race to enter in the next month or two.
